Job Description
IT Support Technician Location: Wrexham Salary: circa £30K Hours: 40 hrs per week, 8:30 to 16:30 M-F with flexitime Founded in Montréal, Québec in 1976, TC Transcontinental is a publicly traded, family-controlled company, led by members of the second generation of the family. We are Canada's largest printer. Our UK site, located on the Wrexham Industrial Estate, has over 50 years of history. We develop, create and manufacture high-quality coatings for films, foils and other speciality substrates that enhance, strengthen and protect the products that touch our everyday life. The IT Support Technician Role You will be providing technical support on a wide range of products within the business, with key responsibilities and requirements including. * Application development and support (VBA, SharePoint, MS Office). * Support, develop and enhance the existing in-house systems, reports and programs that are built using VBA/Excel/Access/SQL Query and ODB. * Support all site users, guests and customers as required for all aspects of their computing experience. * Monitor and manage backups and if necessary, restorations. * Install, configure, and maintain IT assets including managing asset tracking. * Maintain printer consumable stock and spares. * Image and install all PC's, notebooks and setup company mobile phones. * Install and support all applications. * Escalate and prioritise issues to IT Manager and/or appropriate support team. * Create, maintain, disable and delete system users. * Provide IT Inductions for new starters. * Provide training to users in applications and product features as required In addition to the key items above you will be required to assist and support the items below (for which additional support will be provided to you as required by the local IT manager and corporate IT) * Monitor and support VMWare hosts, vSAN and VM's. * Assist the IT Manager with site projects and corporate initiatives and changes. * Assist central IT Network and security specialists in maintaining and supporting the UK's networks and security. * Recommend improvements to the computer systems and take part in the implementation of those improvements. * Manage projects assigned by the IT Manager. * Support business system application * VoIP phone system administration. * Carry out other reasonable duties as identified by the IT Manager. Requirements for the IT Support Technician Role Key skills required * Working knowledge of VBA programming and debugging * Database query building from multiple data sources (ODBC, SQL, Excel, Access) * In depth support knowledge of Microsoft Windows OS including Windows 10, Windows servers * Ability to manage PC rollouts and imaging * Ability to handle user problems with hardware and software. * Active Directory * Solid Microsoft Office 365 & SharePoint 365 skills * Solid understanding of networking and TCP/IP * Proven track record and experience in Desktop support role * Strong problem-solving skills * Ability to communicate at all levels.
