NOTTINGHAM UNIVERSITY HOSPITALS NHS TRUST PAID MASTERS SCHEME: SENIOR EDUCATION FELLOW in ADULT CRITICAL CARE Salary 32,478 - 42,969 plus 1.5x 1A supplement Get paid to develop your CV! Applications are invited for the Position of Senior Education Fellow in Adult Critical Care which incorporates a fully paid MMedSci in Medical Education at the University of Nottingham. You will cover Adult Critical Care shifts out of hours at not more than 20h per week (average) and your remaining paid time will be available for study. The masters programme is highly flexible - for those not completing a full masters there is the opportunity to exit after gaining a PG Cert or PG Dip. The post itself can be extended as needed to complete the qualification, subject to satisfactory progress and appraisal. The programme confers eligibility to apply for the Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy and prepares students for further professional recognition by the Academy of Medical Educators and similar. The University of Nottingham has a TEF Gold rating and graduates of the Medical Education Masters have gone on to occupy very senior education roles in medical schools, NHS Trusts, deaneries and Health Education England. Adult Critical Care at NUH affords excellent opportunities to get involved in a range of formal, structured education programmes including, but by no means limited to * medical student teaching in association with the Department of Research and Education * junior clinical fellows who are new to ICU * advanced care practitioners undertaking postgraduate masters On site is the well-equipped Trent Clinical Simulation Centre and there are excellent facilities for point-of-care simulation on the ICU itself. This post would best suit doctors with an interest in critical care and/ or acute specialties with the requisite minimum experience who will soon transition between core and specialist training. Others are also encouraged to apply. Applicants must be doctors who hold full/ limited registration with the GMC. In addition, the following minimum requirements must be met: 2 years of post-foundation experience in acute specialties inclusive of 1 year of anaesthetics and 3 months of critical care. Prior NHS experience of working in Critical Care or Anaesthesia is essential. NUH consists of the Queens Medical Centre Campus and the Nottingham City Hospital Campus. Duties will be based at both campuses. On the QMC campus the critical care area is divided into a 21-bedded intensive care (level 3 beds) and a 20-bedded level 2 HDU. The critical care area at the City campus has 17 beds that are used flexibly for level 2 and 3 care. Between the three units we see approximately 4500 admissions per year. NUH is fortunate to have among its staff the National Director for Organ Donation, the National Clinical Director for Trauma and the Vice Chair of the Critical Care Group at the National Institute for Health Research. While the post in question is not recognised for training by the Postgraduate Dean, our critical care areas are recognised for training by the royal colleges of anaesthetists, physicians, surgeons, emergency medicine and by the Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine. There is a well-established weekly educational programme, a well co-ordinated audit programme, as well as a well-developed research programme. Continued funding for the masters depends on successful completion of each stage which are funded separately. The post is EWTD compliant and pay banding is full 1A. This post is whole time and is covered by the Medical and Dental Staff Terms and Conditions of Service. Non EEA national doctors are eligible to apply provided they fulfil the essential criteria.
