Job Description

I help to make a difference... Are you looking to further your career within a prison healthcare environment? Prisons are one of the most challenging, yet rewarding places for healthcare professionals to work. If you are a qualified nurse, or soon to qualify, and want a role where you can develop your existing skills and learn something new every day in an environment that never stands still, then this is it! As a healthcare provider, we recognise the fact that prisoners are a socially excluded group with complex healthcare needs that can often be associated with poor outcomes. We believe in putting the patient first, regardless of the environment or their history. We are the market leader, providing care to over 30,000 patients in over 40 prisons across the country. Our core values are; everyone makes a difference, patients are at the heart of everything we do and together we make things better. If you share these values and have transferable skills we want to meet you! What will you be doing? As the Primary Care Lead you will be responsible for the effective day-to-day operational management of all primary care services across the prison. You will manage primary care service level agreements, ensuring performance-monitoring standards are adhered to and the highest standards of care are maintained. As part of this role, you will participate in the on-site and on-call rota to provide cover for the service and support the Deputy Head of Healthcare and Head of Healthcare across the range of their duties. As an RGN, you will have a real passion for developing the teams skills in an environment that is ever changing. You'll have a flexible approach working within a team that encourage new ideas and opinions on how to improve the service. What we need from you... You will have proven post nursing registration experience and experience of key working and care planning as well as evidence of team leadership and supervision of junior staff; participating in planning and/or management meetings at a senior level. You will also have experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team, within a primary care setting. If you are self-motivated and able to work autonomously as well as showing plenty of initiative when it comes to handling a wide range of situations, then this could be the right role for you! So, what do we have to offer? You will receive an annual salary of up to 44,044 dependent on experience. Care UK benefits include training & development opportunities, company contributory pension scheme, 25 days annual leave plus 8 public holidays, staff well-being, CPD, re-validation support, cycle to work scheme, free on-site gym access during lunch breaks, staff recognition scheme and retail discounts. We are also proud to support our employees with continued professional development opportunities and further education subject to service needs. Next Steps... If you are shortlisted, you will be contacted by Wendy Atherley, the Internal Recruiter for this role. They will submit your CV to the hiring manager and in turn will arrange an interview for you to attend at HMP Brixton if the hiring manager feels that you are suitable for the job. More information..
