Mail Reports to: Group Head of External Communications Direct reports: Deputy Head of PR, Senior Influencer Coordinator, Senior Press Officer (Reactive) Role description: We are looking for a Head of PR to join the Pride in London communications team. Pride in London is a high profile brand that attracts media and news attention all year round. We are looking for someone to manage a strong PR team to proactively promote our organisational announcements, help Pride in London react to relevant stories, and answer reactive media enquiries. Your remit will also include overseeing our influencer activity to amplify our campaigns. The Head of PR will manage the PR team to proactively promote Pride in London through all media channels, working closely with the Social Media, Content, Policy and Political Engagement teams as well as other departments such as Marketing, Fundraising and Events. Working in a project management style, the successful applicant will share out key portfolios amongst the team to ensure Pride in London is consistently at the forefront of journalists' and influencers' minds. The Head of PR will report into the Group Head of External Communications and will be responsible for leading the overall press office agenda. Responsibilities: * Build an integrated strategic plan for PR with calendar of activity * Develop key messaging and collaborate with other heads of department on comms plans to ensure we are proactive in our communications and approach to issue management * Review press materials drafted by the team, and on occasion draft key announcements yourself * Brief Pride in London spokespeople ahead of media engagements, including drafting briefing materials * Work with the Head of Media in the Marketing team to forge effective media partnerships * Ensure our approach to reputation management and crisis comms is first in class * Lead an effective PR team of press officers to ensure they: * Work with all members of the Pride in London team to maximise positive press coverage for Pride in London * Represent Pride in London to media outlets in the UK and globally * Build good contacts with journalists, writers, broadcasters and influencers to help promote Pride in London * Ensure our media lists are up to date, and our influencer lists are representative of Pride in London's commitment to diversity * Effectively use the platform that Pride in London provides to promote all LGBT+ communities * Craft responses to media requests in a quick, clear and publication-ready manner * Develop creative and engaging ways to promote Pride in London in the media * Promote Pride in London to new media outlets and audiences * Drive fundraising calls-to-action where appropriate, as well as promoting key fundraising events * Provide media support to Pride in London events outside of parade day Soft skills: * A clear commitment to the values and ambitions of Pride in London * Experience of leading a team in media or news * The ability to think creatively and strategically * Highly-organised and self-motivated * Strong proofreading and copywriting skills * Ability to act on initiative * Proven decision-making skills * Excellent communication skills * Flexible attitude and approach to work * Friendly, efficient and helpful attitude Background Minimum 5-6 years' experience of working in PR, or in the media. Time Commitment This is a role that requires long-term commitment. Time required will vary week by week, and team members will be able to share the workload. On average, you can expect the post to take 3-4 hours per week. Please note this will increase during the months of May & June, which is Pride in London's busiest period. All work is carried out at home, although we will require attendance at regular Communications team meetings and Senior Comms team meetings.
