Job Description

A 3 months+ opportunity for an Accommodation Officer has arisen with the local authorities in Gosport. The job purpose is to work on behalf of Fareham and Gosport Council's to increase the range of housing solutions for rough sleepers. Key tasks of the role: * Develop opportunities to access private rented sector accommodation, including direct lets, property purchase and private leasing schemes. * Develop creative, bespoke housing solutions for those currently sleeping rough and for those ready to move-on from supported housing. * Research examples of housing solutions that work nationally for rough sleepers and share best practice models. * Work closely with the local Outreach Workers, Complex Needs Navigators and the local authority housing teams to understand the needs of those requiring housing assistance. * Work with the local authorities to provide monitoring information to Ministry for Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG). Skills and Experience: * Excellent negotiation and mediation skills particularly in terms of developing relationships with landlords / agents and tailoring your communication to the different groups of people you will be working with. * Sensitivity to the issues of people who have been rough sleeping. * Knowledge of housing and property law, especially rules relating to housing conditions and security of tenure. * An understanding of the priorities of landlords and agents when letting homes. * Experience of working in housing in either the public or private sector. * You will need to have a driving licence and access to a car.
