Job Description
Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals (BSUH) Trust is the regional teaching hospital working across two sites: The Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton and Princess Royal Hospital, Haywards Heath. The Brighton campus includes the Royal Alexandra Children's Hospital and The Sussex Eye Hospital and Regional Centre for Neurosciences. We are currently seeking highly motivated individuals to join our expanding team to support the Neurosciences Service including Recovery, Interventional Radiography and the delivery of the Polytrauma Service at the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton. The successful candidate will be Scrub, Dual, Anaesthetics or Recovery trained. Consideration will be given to candidates who wish to commence a career in theatres without experience. The successful candidates will be required to work an internal rotation shift pattern to provide 24/7 cover for the Polytrauma Service at Brighton and will be expected to participate in the on-call rota to meet the needs of the service. Whilst working within the Department the successful candidate will be supported through an internal staff training program which will equip them for neurosurgery and Polytrauma. The Department also supports a range of post-registration courses including a Neuroscience Module, Mentor Preparation Module and an Anaesthetic Course. The operating theatre suite is comprised of 2 theatres, integrated anaesthetic facilities and recovery unit. We are currently part of the development of an exciting new Polytrauma Service being established at the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton. In approximately 2 years, the Neurosciences Centre will move to a purpose built facility in Brighton. The Major Trauma Centre will provide the full range of services and clinical expertise for patients who are severely injured from all areas of the region. This includeds a 1.5-2 million population extending from Chichester in the West towards Hastings and parts of Kent in the East. The Trauma Teams will handle patients transferred directly from the accident / injury or from Trauma Units and A&E Departments across the region. These will include severely injured patients arriving by road or air ambulance and we need individuals that can help us provide a complex pathway involving numerous skilled staff and access to emergency treatment 24 hours a day.
