We are a highly progressive, ambitious university teaching hospital and regional center for a wide variety of specialist services. With an annual turnover of over 550m there is a clear determination to achieve the Trust's strategic ambitions, including a 420m redevelopment and transformation of the Trust's estate - the Teaching, Trauma and Tertiary (3T) Care infrastructure. As part of the Trust's commitment to Major Trauma the new ward opened in 2019, we are excited to welcome applicants to join this new and dynamic Major Trauma team at the Royal Sussex County Hospital. This post will offer opportunities to gain knowledge skills and education in Major Trauma. All staff will be supported to complete the National Major Trauma competencies with support in clinical practice and with formal teaching. There is a strong leadership team with a Ward Manager and Advanced Nurse Practitioner, as well as the Major Trauma practitioners who will support development and learning on the ward. The Major Trauma Ward is a 24 bedded, mixed sex ward. The ward will catering for a variety of complex injuries ranging from major lacerations to complex road traffic trauma patients offering nurses a chance to develop skills in high acuity nursing. There is a wide age range amongst our patients affording excellent experience in basic nursing care, rehabilitation and complex discharge planning. A kind and compassionate manner, and an interest in providing an excellent standard of care are essential. We are looking for an enthusiastic, caring nurse with recent acute experience or newly qualified to join our team. We are a very supportive team and can offer a structured Orientation Programme and are happy to give you help and guidance to develop. There are various study days and courses held within the Trust and with Brighton & Sussex University to support your learning. Brighton and Hove is a city located on the coast of Sussex just one hour from London. The beach is just moments from the hospital and to the north of the city we are surrounded by the South Downs National Park, an area of outstanding natural beauty.
