For more information visit www.costain.com Smart Motorways ease any expedite traffic flow by converting the hard shoulder to a running lane and using new technology to vary speed limits in response to driving conditions. Works will include installing a new ducted infrastructure system, installing overhead electronic signs and central barrier replacement work. The M1 J13-16 SM ALR delivery team is expanding to accommodate additional workload generated by an early extension of the scheme from junction 15 to junction 16 (a further 20km of open work site). We are looking for highly motivated Site Engineers with an ambition to work on a challenging infrastructure scheme. The Smart Motorway Programme will be a mainstay of Costain Highways Sector workload for the next 10 years following the successful award of the Smart Motorway Alliance in April. This is a great opportunity to gain experience of the exciting and dynamic projects the Alliance has to offer. The role on the M1 J13-16 SM ALR scheme will include a variety of different disciplines including earthworks, piling, FRC, drainage, pavements, structural steelwork and vehicle restraint systems. What will I be doing? * Maintain an accurate design deliverables register so there is visibility to the construction team of what and when information will be provided for planning purposes. * Manage the design deliverables schedule proactively to ensure works information is available as required by the construction programme. * Own and deliver revised design solutions where they are beyond the remit of the basic technical query process. Work with the delivery team to understand what revisions are required then take over the management of the change until it is ready to be implemented. * Reviewing/commenting on design drawings and specifications inc. supplier fabrication and TW design drawings (be responsible for sub-contract led design) * Co-ordination of TQ process, maintain registers and liaise with AmAr to ensure critical TQs are responded to within required timeframes. * Co-ordination and liaison with HE SES on technical matters/AIP's, maintain a register of contractor led AIP's and Departures, dealing with any issues / queries raised. * Where project temporary works have an impact on permanent works, manage the interface between the two * To have in place a structure that is clearly understood by both the delivery and design teams, who is responsible for what elements of design delivery and leads the discussions between the two teams. * Looks to make contributions which help the team improve its performance You'll be a welcomed member of the wider team, with opportunities to take on additional responsibility, join one of our networks for women, military or LGBT+ staff, and participate in cultural and social events with the local community (e.g. as a STEM ambassador).
