Job Description
The Role We are seeking to recruit two Senior Public Health Practitioners to help reduce health inequalities, promote better health and wellbeing, and lead on a delivery of programmes and projects. Responsibility for delivery of Public Health transferred to Local Authorities in April 2013, when Hackney welcomed a range of new responsibilities across sexual health, substance misuse, mental health, health checks and healthy weight, as well as ensuring the implementation of robust local responses to health protection. In order to be considered for this vital position you will need relevant qualifications and on-the-job experience. This means that as well as having a degree in a relevant discipline or an equivalent level of public health experience you will possess an understanding of basic behaviour and public health principles. You must also have the tact, compassion and expertise to work in a diverse community where health inequalities persist. You will possess knowledge of project management and programme delivery. You will have gained solid experience of tackling health inequality and a proven track record in taking the initiative and leading on work - both autonomously and with teams. You will possess superb communication skills both verbal and written, and have demonstrated a commitment to ongoing professional development. Commissioning experience is desirable, and it is expected you will be working at Public Health Skills and Careers Framework Levels 4 to 5. An Enhanced DBS is required for this role.
