Job Description

Job Title: Data Architect Location: Knutsford Barclays is a transatlantic consumer, corporate and investment bank offering products and services across personal, corporate and investment banking, credit cards and wealth management, with a strong presence in our two home markets of the UK and the US. We are seeking a Data Architect to work within Barclays Execution Services - the Group Service Company which manages all of the processes that Barclays uses to deliver financial products and services to customers and clients. The overall purpose of the role is to deliver and execute a data strategy to enable the delivery of business value by driving improved consistency, reliability and quality of data across the Bank. The role is responsible for the designing, sustaining and enhancing Barclays data architecture. This includes how data will be stored, consumed, integrated and managed by different data entities and IT systems, as well as applications using or processing data. What will you be doing? You will be providing support in data design development, helping to establish operating models for the use of data architecture tools including Modelling, Data Quality and Data Lineage You will document and build the current state data architecture landscape of the various data domains and sub-domains (e.g., Personal, Premier, Wealth and Risk / Finance / Treasury) You will work with the various Change Projects to ensure delivery of Data Architecture specifications that meet Data Architecture Standards You will contribute towards the support, the establishment and continuous improvement of the control environment for data to be produced and consumed in a way that drives continuous improvement You will engage with Business Units/Functions to help them with the adoption of Data Architecture Standards, ensuring Group Wide compliance You will support the CDO Office in the execution of agreed control / governance methods and processes, You will assist in the production of comprehensive data designs (models, architecture and patterns) for various data domains in BUK working closely with the data domain owners and other architects as required What we're looking for: You will need an understanding of basic concepts and purpose of; Principles, Policies, Standards and Guidelines, and how they should be applied / mandated You will understand the concepts of Relational Data-Base Management Systems (RDBMS); Big Data; Extract Transform & Load (ETL); Business Intelligence (BI) and Analytics toolsets You will have the experience to apply data design patterns and frameworks You will understand the inter-relationship of data tools and how these can improve data management maturity. Experience of scripting, coding or configuring at least one data management toolset Skills that will help you in the role: You will have experience of using Data toolsets in a data architecture environment You will be capable of writing and reviewing data standards and familiar with data standards / best practices and be proficient in communicating data standards and demonstrating their value to the wider audience You will have knowledge of Waterfall and Agile methodologies in relation to defined data deliverables and experience in multiple data platforms You will have the experience to facilitate user requirement gathering to inform design.
