Country: United Kingdom Location: London Function: Operations Level: Experienced Professional Appointment Type: Permanent PURPOSE STATEMENT The NPD Delivery Manager - NGP is responsible for the delivery of a number of NPI projects that form part of the NGP NPI portfolio. The NGP portfolio consists of a variety of initiatives that include the development of new NGP platforms, launching platforms in new markets, development of new variants and changes and improvement to products in market. All NGP NPI projects are typically more complex than the CAP1 NPI projects in the combustible business. Project ownership will typically reside with the Brand Manager. This role is a single point of contact for assigned projects and accountable to ensure that all aspects of the projects are coordinated and managed on behalf of project owner. ORGANISATION * OPERATIONS - NGP DIMENSIONS GENERAL: * Project Complexity: * Accountable to deliver assigned CAP2/1 NPI projects * Support CAP3 NPI projects GEOGRAPHY: * Global FINANCIAL BUDGET * Project Budget: To be agreed within the confirmed project REPORTS * Direct: None * Indirect: To be agreed aligned with confirmed project PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES Managing NPI projects on behalf of the Project Owner/Custodian to deliver the project to time, cost and quality according to the defined NPI principles KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES * Ensure that centrally driven NGP initiatives are captured and entered into NPI process * Establish cross-functional project teams engaging with the relevant disciplines and securing the resources required to deliver the project * Responsible for championing projects through the NPI process ensuring clear, actionable plans and milestones are set and all relevant protocols and documents are completed prior to submission for gate decisions * Conducting scoping and feasibility reviews to ensure that project plans are achievable and aligned to business operational plans * Working with the Project Custodian/Owner to build an appropriate business case & timeline for NPI projects * Effectively managing risks and issues with plans to mitigate or escalate as appropriate * Ensuring alignment and coordination of all associated dependent local projects in different geographies (regions and markets) * Work with NGP stakeholders and service providers to build commitment to NPI and identify issues and opportunities to improve * Working closely with NPD Global Project Managers to support ongoing (CAP3/2) projects and improve process * Actively participate, organize or chair PAC meetings to follow actions from different stakeholders in order to deliver the project * Seek answers, explore and work collaboratively with different functions in order to explore new platforms or support growth in Emerging Categories ADDITIONAL INFORMATION CONTEXT & ENVIRONMENT The tobacco industry is entering a period of unprecedented transformation over the next decade. The combination of increased product regulation, unbalanced price/value equation and concerns about the health implications of smoking has created an environment that encourages innovative substitute products to flourish. NGP represents a significant opportunity for BAT. We aim to be world leader with a 25% share of a $3Bn NTO Market by 2020. NGP now has a portfolio of consumer propositions which includes e-cigarette vapour products, tobacco heating products, a vapour / tobacco hybrid, modern oral (pouch) products and emerging categories. To date a number of these products have been launched in many countries and there are more plans to enter other Geographies going forward. In these fast-changing categories, it is essential that we deliver regular and substantial product upgrades through a healthy innovations pipeline. Our ability to launch these products using a robust NPI process in a number of markets with speed and agility will be essential to our success. This role will form part of a growing NPI capability in NGP to enable BAT to achieve its goal over the coming years. The skills and experience required reflect the complexity of the NPI projects. Complexity is higher than we typically see in the combustibles business most notably in terms of product design / development and the supply chain. KNOWLEDGE, SKILL & EXPERIENCE * Working knowledge of BAT NPD/NPI process * Previous experience managing NPI project is essential * Proficient at Microsoft Office programs including Project is desirable * Knowledge of NGP business and products desirable * Knowledge of tobacco/BAT business desirable * Knowledge of Supply Chain process is essential * Self-starter * Strong leadership characteristics KEY SUCCESS FACTORS * Delivery of NPI projects against challenging timelines * Completion of all relevant NPI protocols enabling smooth gate transitions * Clear and concise reporting of progress * Effective management of risk/issues WORKING RELATIONSHIPS The Job holder must work effectively with the following of key stakeholders: * NGP Brand Managers
