Job Description

Planned Care Division Gynaecology and Breast Service Line Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology 10 PAs Kingston Hospital is a very busy and popular acute general hospital. We serve a population of about 320,000 in Kingston, Esher, Richmond, Roehampton, Putney and other parts of South West London and are one of the largest employers in the region and employ over 3,700 staff across the widest range of careers. We are proud of our achievements and reputation as the largest single site District General Hospital in London. We have been rated as outstanding by the CQC at their recent inspection in 2018. In the latest national NHS Staff Survey we had response rates well above the national average and had scores above the average national rate in most domains. The Maternity Unit has been consistently rated as one of the best in London in maternity surveys. We provide a full range of diagnostic and treatment services and have a national reputation for innovative developments in healthcare particularly in 'patient-focused' care and maternity services. We have one of the highest levels of day surgery in the country - we treat more than 72 per cent of our waiting list patients without admitting them overnight. The area surrounding the hospital is one of the most attractive "green" areas in the outer London region, almost entirely surrounded by river, three Royal Parks and open countryside. It is 12 miles from the centre of London and 10 miles from Heathrow airport. There are good road and rail links with Central London and there is a large commuter population. We are looking to appoint a dynamic individual within the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology at Kingston Hospital with sound general Obstetric and Gynaecology competencies, strong leadership skills and a passion for multidisciplinary education and training. This is a new post and will add to the already existing excellent skills within the department Gynaecology. It is a combined post and a key aim of the maternity service to ensure 98 hour consultant presence on the delivery suite and the post holder will contribute to providing this. All applicants should be fully registered with the General Medical Council, hold a License to Practice and be on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT on the date of interview. As this post is regulated by the Protection of Children Act 1999, The Criminal Justice Courts Act 2000 and/or the Care Standards Act 2000, an enhanced police criminal records "Disclosure" will be requested by the Trust through the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB).
