Read a little more about usHere The Role Depop is on the hunt for a Senior Android Engineer to join our growing Manchester team. You'll be working as part of a cross-functional team, developing new user facing features and transforming the way Depop connects with creative minds, by constantly delivering great user experiences on their Android devices. Our codebase is Kotlin, we apply solid architecture principles and automation is applied in many aspects of our release pipeline, giving us more time to work on features whilst celebrating a new version of our app every week. We write about technology, people and smart engineering - Responsibilities * Design and implement new user-facing features * Work closely with the design, product management and backend teams to ensure that new features are implemented efficiently and effectively. * Refactor existing code to leverage the latest developments in the Android framework. * Communicate any engineering challenges faced when supporting a wide range of devices * Maintain a healthy curiosity towards other Android apps and champion ideas on ways to improve * Ensure that our localisation efforts support introduction to new countries. Requirements * Ideally BA/BS degree in Computer Science, related technical field or equivalent practical experience. * Working knowledge of or exposure to Kotlin * Experience supporting the entire SDLC, from development to after release in order to monitor performance * Experience with Mobile Continuous Integration * Experience with Unit and Integration Testing * Solid knowledge of Entity-Relational databases, specifically SQLite * Technical knowledge of mobile application development in Android with experience producing apps that feature a fast, consistent and non-blocking user experience. * Solid foundation in computer science; such as multi-threading and applying structure whilst finding solutions - are you choosing the right tools for the problem in hand? * Heavy utilisation of the Android support and design libraries. * Experience in consuming a RESTful API.
