Department Profile The cornerstone of Morgan Stanley's risk management philosophy is the execution of risk-adjusted returns through prudent risk-taking that protects Morgan Stanley's capital base, liquidity and franchise. The EMEA Risk Management Division is responsible for the independent identification, analysis, reporting and escalation of all market, credit, operational and liquidity risk exposures arising from MSI Group business activities, acting independently of business management and providing an effective challenge process. The EMEA Liquidity Risk Department ("LRD") is a pillar of EMEA Risk Management, responsible for the oversight of the MSI Group's ability to survive adverse, idiosyncratic and market-related liquidity shocks. LRD's mandate includes liquidity risk assessment and identification, limit setting and enforcement, business strategy challenge, liquidity reserve model methodology oversight, and communication of liquidity risks to senior management and the Board. Primary Responsibilities Morgan Stanley is seeking a professional with previous liquidity or risk management experience to join independent Firm Risk Management in London at the Associate level. The role is for a resourceful associate assisting in oversight across numerous areas of the Liquidity Risk remit. Responsibilities can include but is not limited to oversight of the internal liquidity risk assessment, specialist in Prime Brokerage and Derivative Liquidity risk, stress testing, Liquidity Risk limits and management reporting. Core Responsibilities Include: Assist management on delivering the Liquidity Risk agenda. Work with Businesses to understand their business models, trade structures and funding flows. E.g. interaction between client businesses and the link to Secured Firm funding and liquidity risk relating to Derivative transactions. Closely liaise with other teams to validate liquidity risk calculations. Creating high quality reports for Boards, Regulators and internal use on a regular basis. Innovate ways to identify key risks/concentrations and implement processes to actively monitor these risks. Review and challenge of existing stress models. Liaise with Treasury, business personnel and risk managers to ensure the appropriateness of the representation of liquidity risks. Skills required (essential) Excellent academic background, preferably an advanced degree in a quantitative discipline or equivalent. Previous experience in a Liquidity, Funding or Risk management role in an investment bank, commercial bank or consulting firm. Broad knowledge and practical experience of asset classes including secured funding, prime brokerage, equities, interest rates, foreign exchange and credit instruments. Understanding of stress testing financial products. Background in different stress testing methodologies, including behavioral methodologies desirable. Ability to handle and analyse large data sets. Proficiency in Excel essential. Ability to work under time pressure. Strong analytical skills, sense of ownership and self - motivator. Innovative problem solver.
