Job Description

The Senior Garment Technologist will work with and develop our global supply bases. The role will involve managing and improving fit and analysing supplier performance. Experienced multi- product Senior Garment Technologist to work in a pivotal role within the technical team. A preferred knowledge or experience of swimwear or lingerie products area Please note this is a 12 month fixed term contract. The Role: * Conducting fit sessions for own product area * Supporting technologist team in managing fit sessions for other product areas * Ensuring all technical issues are accurately and consistently analysed and that clear, concise and accurate comments are sent to suppliers * Liaising with Design and Buying teams to offer technical guidance and support on new product development * Working with suppliers to improve areas of weakness, and to maintain areas of strength * Identifying new projects * Analysing factory performance and maintaining up-to-date records of the resulting data * Managing the critical path and high-lighting potential issues in a timely way * Keeping up-to-date with fibre composition labelling and product safety regulations * Promoting quality at all times, whilst maintaining a strong commercial attitude * Maintaining supplier performance database * Delivering continuous improvement and creative solutions * Feeding back to Technical Manager, peers and technologists with recommendations for improvements to procedures and practises The Person: * A technically-oriented qualification, preferably at degree level, is essential, as is a minimum of 6-7 years' experience of a similar role in a fast-paced environment * Experience of working directly with factories, and thorough understanding of how factories are structured and operate, including types of machinery and equipment * Comprehensive understanding of fitting and fit issues is essential, and pattern-cutting knowledge and practise is very desirable * Working knowledge of grading and grade rules * Thorough understanding of garment construction and fabric technology, including testing * First-class communication skills are essential, as well as experience of working with different cultures and the challenges this can bring * Able to work both independently and as part of a team, and able to inspire and motivate team members * Able to meet new challenges with a positive attitude and to take ownership of projects as identified by the Technical Manager and / or Head of QA * Strong time-management skills with the ability to both prioritise tasks and change direction with agility as the situation requires * Fully conversant with Outlook, Excel and Word, and willing to learn new applications as the role demands * A preferred knowledge or experience of swimwear or lingerie products area Responsibilities: The Senior Garment Technologist will work with and develop our global supply bases.
