Fidel is working to build a world where power and control of data shifts back to its creator - the consumer. Fidel enables developers to access real-time card payment data through a single API and build their application on top of the payments infrastructure from the three major card networks (Visa, Amex and Mastercard. This allows our customers to supercharge innovation and drive value back to consumers quickly and affordably. Our customers currently include global businesses such as Klarna, Avios and Royal Bank of Canada. We recently closed our Series A round, raising $18m from top-tier VCs, including Nyca Partners and QED Investors. We currently have offices in London, Lisbon and Toronto - and we're only getting started. In this exciting period of growth, both within the UK and internationally, we are now looking for a Head of Legal and Compliance to own our legal function and support our partners and customers in the payments industry. The Role: This is a new function within Fidel where you will have significant ownership and responsibility to build out our Legal and Compliance function. We work closely with the Card Networks and Financial Institutions, this role will focus on Data Privacy tol help prepare our clients for card submissions by providing them reassurance that their data is safe and secure. The role will also support FCA applications in line with our Product Roadmap. What youll be doing: You will own the legal function at Fidel, specifically related to all Data Privacy issues relative to card issuers and clients. * Build and manage the Policy Library including Data Privacy, Anti-bribery and Corruption, Anti-Money Laundering, PCI Compliance and GDPR * You will be the go to person between card networks and clients for all legal related issues: creating data templates, reviewing relevant contracts etc. * Standardise the process by creating checklists for reviewing and submitting clients data privacy policies, user flows, opt-in and opt-out solutions to the Card Networks for approval * Monitor the performance and quality of Card Network submissions by tracking queries raised, % acceptance, Days to Activated and other KPIs * Support Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) with the Card Networks to identify opportunities and challenges in the onboarding process * Present business case to the Card Networks, including appropriate data controls, for new use cases Requirements * You have a legal degree with minimum 3-5 years PQE, and have spent at least 50% of your time within the Data Privacy function. * Youre excited to join a fast growing start-up with the potential to eventually grow into a General Counsel role, overseeing Fidels legal function. * You have extensive experience with Data Governance, PSD2, AISP, PISP, GDPR and eMoney. * You understand the card networks pain points and how to provide assurance (via data) that appropriate controls are in place to protect consumers. * You have a track record of monitoring and supporting business functions in adhering to business policies. * You are familiar with the key compliance requirements for financial services organisations and understand the key regulatory requirements in the financial services sector. * You know how to prevent poor customer outcomes and bad business activities, and you have experience reviewing MI to guide the business. * You have experience getting the best out of other internal teams (Sales, Marketing, Finance, Engineering & Operations) through great collaboration Benefits * Flexible working - while we want you to work closely with your colleagues, you also have the opportunity to work from home or abroad when you need to * Unlimited leave * Vitality health insurance * Perkbox benefits scheme * A fully stocked kitchen with unlimited snacks & refreshments * Friday team lunch & drinks * Pension with Smart Pension (employer contribution 2% of base salary) * Budget for any software or books you need
