Department Profile The Risk Management division is at the core of the firm's activities, and its role is evolving and expanding in line with changing industry standards, regulatory requirements, and commercial pressures. The Risk Management Division comprises a number of Risk coverage and functional Departments, of which the Market Risk Department plays a critical role in delivering independent control and challenge to the business. Morgan Stanley seeks a professional with previous experience in a multi-disciplined risk management function at the Associate level to work in the EMEA Stress Testing & Portfolio Analysis team. The team is part of the Morgan Stanley's independent risk management function. The team is the custodian of the Risk Appetite and Stress Testing Frameworks for the MSI Group, and is responsible for measuring, challenging and controlling the MSI Group's aggregate portfolio risks and assessing whether the risk is within the stated risk appetite and consistent with Business Strategy. Based in London, this role will assist in the MSI group's efforts on measuring, challenging and suggesting remediation strategies to manage the aggregate Portfolio risk for the MSI Group and the articulation of the aggregate risk profile to senior management in the content provided to the various senior management committees, including the MSI Group Board and Board Risk Committees. Primary Responsibilities The individual is expected to proactively highlight forward looking risks and build-up of concentrations in the MSI Group portfolio and assess whether the risks are within the stated risk appetite. The individual would support senior team members in executing the framework for managing the aggregate portfolio risk and risk appetite for the MSI Group including: Identifying, measuring and analysing the aggregate portfolio risk for the MSI Group, including Market, Credit and Liquidity Risk, highlighting vulnerabilities across the portfolio. Assisting in the development of new methods to measure and manage cross-risk concentrations and stress testing scenarios. Provide commentary and analysis on the main portfolio risk concentrations and vulnerabilities for periodic Risk packs submitted to the Executive and Board level committees. Engagement with London based stakeholder's to ensure an accurate reflection of the key risk highlights in the weekly, monthly and quarterly Senior Management committees. Skills required (essential) Strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to distil technical information and present key facts. Good product knowledge of one or more asset classes; knowledge of VaR, stress testing. Strong academic background, with a degree in a quantitative subject. 3-5 years relevant work experience in risk management at a commercial bank, investment bank, or consulting firm. Proficient in use of Excel, VBA and SQL. Ability to build strong working relationships across a number of different areas. Highly organized, with close attention to detail.
