The strong links with Macmillan and the Values Based Standards aimed at improving the patient experience help us provide truly holistic care to our patients. We are the specialist surgery centre for patients undergoing major head and neck surgery in north and north east London. In addition to surgery, we have a strong oncology team with an active trials portfolio and palliative care. You will be part of the Head and Neck Clinical Nurse Specialist team which is led by the Lead CNS, and comprises four Macmillan CNSs, an Enhanced Recovery CNS, Macmillan Cancer Support Worker and two Pre op assessment nurses. The pre-operative assessment nurse for head and neck will provide holistic care to patients undergoing surgery at UCLH. This is an exciting opportunity to use and develop your physical assessment skills preparing patients for major complex head and neck surgery. You will have the opportunity to work closely with the dedicated anaesthetic team and autonomously in nurse led pre-operative assessment clinic. You will be involved with enhanced recovery pathways for our complex surgery. Experience in pre-operative assessment is desired but not essential and you will be provided with education and development opportunities both in head and neck speciality and pre-operative assessment.
