Your new role The exciting new role as a Change & Configuration Manager you'll be responsible for ensuring all engineering changes are managed in compliance with Group Rail standards and that business processes reflect this. Specifically, you will be responsible for the following deliverables: Change Management * Organise & manage a portfolio of engineering changes through a lifecycle from proposal and review to full approval * Connect with Regulatory Bodies, Design Authorities and other relevant functions involved in the process and governance of engineering change * Connect with and manage internal & external stakeholders to the change process * Drive improvements in process throughput, quality standards and cost recovery supported by performance metrics Configuration Management * Responsible for the configuration standard for all managed assets at Design Freeze and throughout the process of commissioning and Acceptance by the customer * Maintenance of configuration baseline as in service changes are implemented * Develop the process to ensure consistency and rigour in application across all assets * Develop KPI and reporting standards for all safety critical and software assets so that the installed fleet may be validated as correct and audited as such * Develop processes for tracking and maintenance of safety critical assets which might be classed as "owner owned" spares or subject to overhaul action by a 3rd party * Maintain the software configuration baseline standard for each fleet General * Drive a collaborative relationship between Service & Maintenance, Rolling Stock Manufacture and Rolling Stock engineering to ensure the smooth transition of trains from manufacture into service. * Safeguard the transfer of all necessary asset information from the Manufacturing Bill of Materials (MBoM) during build phase of the units into the Service Bill of Materials (SBoM) * The change and configuration management processes must comply with the statute and regulation appropriate to region as well as company policy and process. About you Essential Requirements * Excellent knowledge of a technical change & configuration management process in a regulated industry * Good knowledge of rail vehicle construction processes and their main systems * An ability to articulate complex subjects in a concise manner * An understanding of health and safety requirements of an industrial working environment * A collaborative leadership style Desirable Requirements * Experience working in a rail or regulated industry * Knowledge of the ROGS/RIR railway standards and legislative frameworks surrounding traction and rolling stock Qualifications * Engineering or Business Administration degree or relevant post graduate qualification Why Hitachi Rail?
