Compensation Data Hiring Manager: Deborah Francis Contract Type: Permanent Location: Barnwood, Gloucester Salary: Competitive Salary & Benefits Closing Date: 16th June The Opportunity Safety Case Specialist - Configuration Control, Barnwood, Competitive Salary & Benefits A new opportunity has arisen for a Safety Case Specialist to join our team at Barnwood, Gloucester with requirements for occasional travel to work at other EDF locations in the UK and France. The role has a particular focus on configuration control aspects of the safety case and its purpose is to ensure nuclear safety and maintain design integrity through enacting the role of intelligent customer within the Maintain Design Integrity Branch. The Branch is responsible formanaging the configuration of the HPC safety case and performing surveillance on categorisation of plant modifications to ensure the appropriate level of consideration, due process is given to modifications which have a potential impact on nuclear safety.EDF Energy Nuclear New Build (NNB) is in the process of designing and constructing two new reactors at Hinkley PointC (HPC) in Somerset. To support the licensing and operation of these reactors, a competent Design Authority is required to support the HPC Project to understand the plant design and to develop robust nuclear safety cases. The Configuration Control Safety Specialist role is: * Part of a multi-disciplined Branch of around 15 professional scientists and engineers providing support to the HPC project. * Establishing and maintaining links with the supply chain, other parts of the HPC project, other parts of EDF Energy and the regulators in all relevant matters. * Responsible for implementation of the LC20 process and in the future LC 22 process throughout the design, manufacturing and commissioning phases of the project. * Managing the Licence Summary Statements in support of the LC20/22 process and associated management of the LSS schedule, organising and running the committee these documents are submitted to(the Safety Design Change Committee SDCC). The Person Reporting to the Safety Case Integrity Group Lead the successful candidate will have a broad understanding of the entire safety case while providing advice to a range of stakeholders including operations, systems and civilgroups including the Responsible Designer regarding safety case compliance associated with configuration control and assessment of proposed modifications and the potential impact on the overarching safety case. You will have a clear vision, direction and sense of purpose with the ability to innovate, think laterally and tackle new areas of business risk and opportunity. Strong and effective decision making is a key factor in this role while identifying and managing critical business issues. What does being a great Safety Case Specialist - Configuration Control at EDF Energy mean? * Supporting the development of processes for safety case management, modification control and configuration control. * Maintaining a strong relationship with EDF Engineering and Regulatory bodies, co-ordinate support from other external organisations. * Identifying and implementing improvements to the modification arrangements (Licence Condition LC20 and future LC22, provide safety case input to non-conformances and design changes for specified systems and work effectively. The Skills The successful candidate will be educated to degree level or hold the equivalent in physical science, maths or engineering. Chartered scientist/engineer status would also be desirable for this post.You will need to develop effective working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders including EDF Energy, the Responsible Designer, external regulators and suppliers. Technical and Commercial Knowledge and Skills: * Demonstrate evidence of complex safety case management/production within the nuclear industry. * Identification and resolution of issues and development work within the life cycle of nuclear plant construction through to operational level. * Ability to operate autonomously or as part of a team while understanding the needs of quality and decision making capability for resolution of safety case issues. * Experience in safety related, regulated environment e.g. nuclear or high hazards industry with the ability to build strong working relationships with internal and external customers and suppliers.
