Job Description
What is the role? We have an exciting new opportunity for a Communications & PR Officer to join the team at Southampton Football Club. You will act as a point of contact for external media enquiries and internal media activity. You will be responsible for delivering proactive, meaningful and positive communications for the club at local, national and international levels. Additionally, you will assist the Head of Communications and PR with the coordination of matchdays, press conferences and other media events as well as providing key reports for directors and management staff. Finally, you will monitor social media and external media news sites related to the club. What are we looking for? We are looking for a candidate who has a strong understanding of the football and commercial environment. You will need to be creative, have an exceptional eye for detail and be willing to work under tight deadlines in a fast-paced and progressive work environment. The successful candidate will be fully aware of the digital media landscape and be fully competent in the strengths and opportunities of social media platforms systems. The competencies which are required include: Essential Experience: A minimum of three years employment in communications, PR, media relations or related field Desirable Experience: Demonstrable experience within the football industry Essential Qualifications (including certifications): Minimum 2:1 degree in communications, PR, media studies (or similar) Desirable Qualifications (including certifications): MCIPR Qualification in a second language Essential Skills: Strong understanding of football and commercial environments Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with key stakeholders (both internal and external) The ability to write varied press releases and news reports An excellent knowledge and understanding of international, national and regional media Strong forward-planning skills with a creative approach to problem-solving Ability to thrive under pressure and work to tight deadlines Clear understanding of the digital media landscape, with experience of social media. Comfortable with dealing with high-profile figures and classified information Desirable Skills: Experience of using Adobe Creative Suite (particularly Adobe Photoshop) What do you get in return?
