Job Description

The Tax Accountant is responsible for the management of statutory tax compliance deadlines and obligations of the Banking Division. Mainly Indirect Tax focused, responsibilities include the preparation of VAT Returns, Intrastat and EC Sales List on a timely basis. Monthly VAT accounting and to provide support in an advisory capacity for internal and external queries. The Tax Accountant is also responsible for ensuring and monitoring that adequate controls are in place to prevent and reduce all risks relating to tax. Additionally, seek to achieve tax savings by utilising legislation and improve process efficiency by using the latest technology. Key Responsibilities * Prepare the Commercial Division Quarterly VAT Returns for the UK and Bi-monthly Irish entities * Prepare and review monthly Intrastat Returns and EC Sales Lists * Prepare and review monthly Reverse Charge invoices * Assist with the accounting side of all taxation including VAT Accrual, Suspense, B/S Reconciliations and Bad Debt Relief calculations where required * Conduct research to respond to Tax related queries from internal or external stakeholders on a timely basis and in a practical and commercial way e.g. Tax advisory to business on a new product or queries from HMRC * Support the team in ensuring that tax computations and returns are filed with the relevant Tax Authorities, in the correct format and on a timely basis (Corporation tax, VAT and PSA returns) * Provide support to the finance function during reporting periods such as the year end including preparation of detailed taxation calculations and Audit. * Ensure that adequate controls are in place including those required by the Senior Accounting Officer regulations and keeping documentation and risk registers up to date * Involvement in ad hoc projects to provide taxation input * Implementing a continuous improvement ethic especially utilising technology and latest legislation to ensure accurate and efficient working.
