Job Description
: Health and Safety Specialist Huntsman have an opportunity for an experienced Health and Safety Specialist to provide professional Industrial Hygiene (IH) and Operational Human Safety (S) guidance to our Huntsman divisions and sites in the European and Middle East region (EAME). This role location is currently open for consideration for home based working when not travelling, within the EU or UK.. The role will include developing and improving on IH&S management systems, conducting IH&S audits and corporate and regulatory compliance. The successful candidate will also participate in teams such as the Global Industrial Hygiene Network, on improvement initiatives and provide detailed analysis and recommendations back to Huntsman leadership. Additionally, as the Health and Safety Specialist, you will: * Deliver professional, quality, accurate, and timely IH&S reports meeting agreed scope and target dates. * Conduct IH risk assessments and oversee routine exposure monitoring based on risk assessment results. * Be able to develop and articulate a clear vision and strategy to improve health and operational human safety across the company, with emphasis on the EAME Region. * Understand and be able to articulate various models for IH&S and apply these in the analysis of current performance, organizations and programs. * Form and maintain networks of contacts both internally and externally. * Have a keen aptitude for self-development to ensure you remain current in your knowledge of IH&S, and an open mind to evaluate and consider new approaches and methods. * Be flexible and adaptive to select the most appropriate approach and tools for any given situation, being able to quickly assess the maturity of the IH&S culture and programs in an area/location you are working in. * Be tenacious and willing to commit to providing leadership to IH&S and taking a pragmatic hands-on role in driving home safe working practices, driving cultural change and delivering programs. * Be able to command respect at all levels while also being approachable and comfortable working at the most senior and junior levels. * Be self-starting in your role, while also providing feedback on your work, issues faced, obstacles to overcome and progress made. * Develop and maintain a working relationship with management teams at Huntsman sites in the regions, gaining an awareness of the successes and challenges facing the sites to better provide corporate services. * Provide IH&S related expertise to Divisions and sites based on their request and knowledge of existing programs. * Develop and deliver iH&S training programs to the divisions and sites. Requirements: * Bachelor degree in an IH&S related field. * IH&S knowledge and field experience within a chemical manufacturing facility. * Fluent in English, in addition to fluency in German or another European language. * Excellent document and report writing skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office. Previous experience using Cority advantageous. * Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to engage, influence and inspire your audience. * Good understanding of human psychology and its impact on safety and safe behaviours. * Ability to think critically, solve problems independently and exercise judgement. * Self-motivated and able to work with minimum supervision. * Ability to travel 35% - 40%, willing to be home office based when not travelling. * Professional certifications are advantageous and good regulatory knowledge within the EU and UK.
