Overview
We are one of the largest specialist mental health and learning disabilities trusts in the country, with an annual income of £320m and a workforce of some 6,700 staff operating from around 100 sites in Durham, Teesside, North Yorkshire and York and Selby. We provide a range inpatient and community services to 2m people living in County Durham, the Tees Valley, Scarborough, Whitby, Ryedale, Harrogate, Hambleton and Richmondshire. We also provide additional specialist services to other parts of Northern England. We deliver our services by working in partnership with eight local authorities and clinical commissioning groups, a wide range of voluntary organisations, as well as service users, their carers and the public. The successful candidates must have completed the Diploma in Health and Social Care Level 3 or equivalent. Candidates must also have Literacy and Numeracy level 2 or equivalent and must complete the Trust Healthcare Assistant competencies within their probationary period (first 6 months in role). The successful candidates who do not have the required qualifications will be expected to enrol on the Healthcare Assistant Framework which will include the acquisition of the level 3 Diploma Health and Social Care, level 2 in Literacy and Numeracy or equivalent and achievement of competencies. You will have a maximum of 2 years to complete this. 367 Thornaby Road is a residential home for five residents with complex learning disabilities and associated behaviors who have lived together in a homely environment for a number of years within a suburban community. An exciting opportunity has arisen for band 3 Healthcare Assistant to work with adults with learning disabilities within the Teesside area. The post requires the successful candidate to work flexibly across the inpatient assessment and treatment unit and the community. You will be expected to demonstrate knowledge of issues relating to Transforming Care Agenda, risk assessment, Positive behaviour support, autism and physical and mental well-being. Working within a person centred values based and supporting the nursing team in identifying strategies and plans for future care, maximising individual's strengths and minimising the impact of their needs on their daily lives. You will need excellent communication skills and be calm, confident and resilient in your approach. You will need to be able to form therapeutic relationships with people with learning disabilities and mental health needs. You will be joining a team of highly skilled and committed individuals and will become part of the multi-disciplinary team.
