Technical Trainer - Repair. Mains and Service Laying, Emergency Locate and Repair 's Competitive Permanent South - Hollinwood (Travel will be required to other depots) About the Role The main focus of the role is the design & delivery of innovative and interactive training programmes for Mains, Service Laying and Escape, Locate & Repair activities of the Gas Distribution Network. This will include undertaking the assessments and verification activities associated with on and off job training as required. This role will also manage the performance of any external training providers and ensure the availability of fit for purpose facilities. The post will be based at one of the Skills Development Centres (Hollinwood) and the position will also involve delivery at other training centres and operational locations throughout the Gas Distribution Networks. The role includes a company car Your day to day duties will include: Proactive management of all health and safety related matters within areas of responsibility Managing classes of up to 20 delegates Scope the design and development of technical products from Training Needs Analysis through to completion in accordance with prevailing quality management processes (currently 6 pack) Ensure the proper support for the learning environment is in place, including the oversight of facilities, tools & equipment, trainers and assessors. Assessment and verification as required within programmes Responsible for overseeing the safe and effective running of designated training areas/activities Identify and co-ordinate training planning requirements with business stakeholders via the OD governance process Provide consultancy and subject matter expertise to end users and HR specialists Contribute to the development of competency frameworks linked to technical operational skills capabilities Seek continuous improvement via appropriate means of monitoring, observation and evaluation of the effectiveness of delivered solutions and Quality Management Systems. Seek out innovative opportunities to develop the value proposition of OD technical product catalogue About You You will have proven and demonstrable experience in the following; Specialist technical training & assessments Design, develop and refreshing course material within a portfolio. Integration of behavioural and core values training. Oversee and co-ordinate activities of assessors and other training support staff as required. Provision of subject matter advice to HR specialists, line managers and staff NVQ (and equivalent) assessment & verification as required within programmes. Ability to successfully prioritise and handle multiple tasks Strong decision making and time management skills Excellent written and oral communication skills Good networking, interpersonal and collaboration skills Execution and results oriented Focus on creating value for clients Strong leadership and influencing skills You will have command of safety and competency processes In-depth knowledge of the gas industry as a whole A confident presenter Strong IT literacy Excellent communication and project management skills Further information Further targeted development will be provided within role to afford the opportunity for progression over 2 year period, subject to ongoing satisfactory review. Skills and Qualifications: 5 years operational experience in Gas Distribution Escape, Locate & Repair Qualified to Team Leader role 2 or 3 Mains Layer Suitable applicants will have a command of safety and competency processes. The successful applicant will have in-depth knowledge of the gas industry as a whole, be a competent presenter, have strong IT literacy and demonstrate excellent communication and project management skills. Desirable: Educated to HNC level or equivalent Holds SCO1, 2, 4 & 5). Experience of training, knowledge sharing and coaching (Training qualifications would be provided to suitable candidates i.e. Level 3 award in teaching and training. Please note that the achievement of these qualifications is mandatory to the position and will involve an element of study in personal time) Experience of assessment to NVQ standards, with familiarity of learning programmes.
