This role sees you working as part of our small highly agile development team. We work closely with the latest technologies and most progressive broadcasters. We are currently pushing the perceived boundaries of Node.js using it to process Gbps of real time streaming data. We are looking for developers with a difference. Someone who is extremely self motivated, takes pride in managing their own personal deadlines and thrives on solving challenges across the full product lifecycle. The candidate should also enjoy working in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced, technically focused and agile environment. THE ROLE Essential * Flexibility to adapt to new techniques and languages at short notice * Creativity and problem-solving ability * The ability to apply yourself to different and new problems throughout the day * A desire to work on every part of the chain from solution design through to support * To be able to work independently, with a small team or with the customer at various levels * Strong skills in Javascript (Node.js) * Experience with Microsoft and Linux server operating systems If you've got some or all of the following, it would be a great help: * Knowledge of websockets, realtime media transport and IP networking * Strong skills in Javascript (Node.js), databases (MongoDB) and web technologies (HTML, CSS) * Experience with other languages like PHP, C++ or Bash/shell scripting * Strong communication skills and confidence You will become familiar and work with: * The technical details of HTTP, TLS certificates, IP networking, CentOS (Linux) servers, UDP vs TCP, multicast vs unicast and optimisation * Video compression, transportation and analysis including judging quality and delivery * Integrating with and finding the commonalities between different devices from different vendors to provide a common interface This is a great opportunity for a graduate who is passionate about the broadcasting industry, so in addition to a strong academic record, it will be advantageous if you have a keen interest in the media technologies you will become familiar with listed above. During your time with us, you will develop an excellent theoretical and practical understanding of operational and technical systems and equipment, in addition to their use in the fast-moving broadcasting industry.
