Job Description

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF JOB To work as part of a team, manufacturing raw materials to produce quality finished goods, in a safe and efficient manner in line with business demands. SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES * To operate a range of packing machinery within the production process and to have the ability to problem solve and rectify any issues. * To ensure that daily production targets are achieved (e.g. OEE, Waste, Health and Safety). * Responsible for the completion of all necessary paperwork accurately and in a timely manner, to ensure all production stoppages and efficiencies are recorded. * Ensure any quality and safety issues in the manufacturing process are reported to the Team Leader or Senior Production Operative (SPO), to ensure corrective and preventative actions are taken. * Responsible for standard quality line checks (e.g. Product weight checks) and liaise with QA Operatives to take corrective action, as well as informing the Team Leader or SPO. * Ensuring that safe working practices and good housekeeping standards are adhered to. * Demonstrate motivation and have a flexible approach to work, when necessary work across different tasks and functions including both the Tea and Coffee Factories. * Work in close partnership with fellow Production Operatives to promote shared knowledge, transfer of skills and experience. * Develop relationships, working practices and effective communication channels with colleagues within other departments, working together in the joint ownership of any issues and problem-solving activities. * Promote and work within Finlays Values in all tasks that are completed to ensure that the organisation can strive to achieve Finlays Values. * Take an active role in identifying personal training needs and show an enthusiasm to learn and develop with the role of Production Operative. * Promote a continuous improvement environment. * Ensure that you follow and adhere to Company Policies and Procedures (e.g. Hygiene Policy and the Attendance Policy) * Any other reasonable request COMPETENCIES Functional Competencies The technical / professional skills and knowledge required to perform the job effectively. These competencies are generally specific to the function / department. Business Related Competencies * To have a working knowledge of a Food Manufacturing Environment * Experience operating machinery, including packing lines. * Basic understanding of quality awareness and food hygiene standards. * Ability to understand basic instructions and work to SOP's/SWP's General Competencies Basic/functional skills and knowledge required to perform the job effectively including good communication and customer awareness. Need to follow and adhere Health and Safety procedures and practices.
