Main Purpose As a result of an internal promotion, we are looking for a Technical Support Manager to work as a key member of the Engineering management team to contribute to the development and growth of the Unipart Rail business. You will be responsible for managing the engineering assurance activities to ensure that all products supplied by Unipart Rail are in accordance with national and internationally recognized standards and specifications for a wide range of products and services. Role and Responsibilities * Management of product standards and specifications. * Product Safety and Reliability. * Management of product conformity. * Management of Engineering Change Control and Technical Help Desk. * Participate and support the development and implementation of the business strategy for the UK and targeted overseas territories. * Manage the development, capture, implementation and continued compliance of Unipart Rail's safety critical products to relevant standards and specifications. * Ensure that all Unipart Rail procured and supplied products and services are in accordance with recognised standards and specifications. * Review, disseminate and implement changes in industry Legislation and Standards to ensure Unipart Rail's continued product compliance. * Manage Engineering Assurance activities and improve business support levels. * Ensure that national safety incidents are managed, recorded, resolved and communicated within Unipart Rail and to relevant industry bodies. * Manage the Product Specification Strategy and Engineering Product Integrity improvement programme conducted with the Engineering Department. * Develop and maintain processes and procedures associated with engineering assurance activities and supporting functions. * Work in a safe manner, taking reasonable care for the health and safety of yourself and other people at work, following appropriate Health and Safety guidance, training and company rules and procedures as appropriate. * Report any accidents, hazards or dangerous / unsafe behaviour to your line manager immediately. * Ensure the health and safety of your team is maintained at all times and that the working practices of the team comply with the Company disciplines and mandatory requirements of HS&E policies. * Demonstrate safe behaviour during the course of your work and act to prevent or rectify any unsafe practices and hazards identified. Essential Criteria * Chartered Engineer or qualifications leading to Chartered status. * Educated to degree level in an engineering discipline or equivalent experience. * A minimum of 5 years management experience. * Extensive knowledge of railway engineering standards and their application. * Effective Change Management Experience. * Excellent management and communication skills. * Excellent organisational skills. * Able to manage change effectively. * Ability to work at various levels within the organisation. Desirable Criteria * Railway Fleet management / vehicle maintenance experience. * Foreign language skills.
