The team we are building will support a gentleman in his 30's to transition out to his own property within Exeter. He has multiple medical conditions including neurological and physiological which cause some health care type needs alongside severe Autism. This man needs to be given some time and patience when communicating and processing information but is able to communicate using a mixture of Total Communication, some basic signing and verbalising of his needs and emotions. There may be times when communication is difficult for him and he can become frustrated or anxious about this, and will sometimes show this through behaviours that challenge or be self-injurious. He is a well liked, personable and mobile young man, who has a slapstick sense of humour and really enjoys a good laugh. His family are supportive and positive and will be really important in ensuring his transition is successful. You will need to be able to provide Waking Night support to observe changes in presentation and respond, monitor and record healthcare needs in an accurate manner. The team, (and you), will be meeting him in his current placement and getting to know him for a few weeks before his move; We are looking for a experienced Waking Night Support Workers to support and enable this customer in their current placement and throughout his transition.. You could be the perfect fit for this package if you have the following: * A caring, kind and empathetic approach * Enthusiasm, commitment and regards to everyone as equal * A passion about making a difference * Good communication skills * Ability and willingness to work flexibly across set shifts which may include some weekends * Some experience in Learning Disability or Mental Health Support work, either paid or through life experiences * Ideally but not essentially, a recognised care certification such as NVQ or QCF You will be given full training and support right from the outset.
