The team we are building will support a gentleman in his 30's to transition out to his own property within Exeter. He has multiple medical conditions including neurological and physiological which cause some health care type needs alongside severe Autisim. This man needs to be given some time and patience when communicating and processing information but is able to communicate using a mixture of Total Communication, some basic signing and verbalising of his needs and emotions. There may be times when communication is difficult for him and he can become frustrated or anxious about this, and will sometimes show this through behaviours that challenge or be self-injurious. He is a well liked, personable and mobile young man, who has a slapstick sense of humour and really enjoys a good laugh. His family are supportive and positive and will be really important in ensuring his transition is successful. He really enjoys taking part in activities such as going to the pub, watching football, eating out and enjoying sensory art, all of which need to be encouraged and enabled to be pursued. The team, (and you), will be meeting him in his current placement and getting to know him for a few weeks before his move; When he's in his own home his activities could vary depending on his wishes at the time; You'll be an essential link to help your customers undertake daily tasks and enjoy accessing services and activities they enjoy out and about in the community. You'll help your team to work with your Customer and develop alongside their Behaviour Support Plan, all the while developing and furthering your own skills and knowledge. If you are a great mentor and encouraging force to others then our Senior Positive Behaviour Support Worker role is the perfect combination of direct support and the first steps to a supervisory role, and is a great opportunity to practice your line management skills. A Senior Positive Behaviour Support Worker is a vital role working alongside management, and involves: * Helping our customers to remain independent in their own homes. * Supporting our customers by accompanying them to appointments, shopping, preparing meals and helping with daily living routines including washing, dressing and personal care. * Providing companionship and making someone's day that little bit easier. * Maintaining and recording accurate notes, including relevant care and support plans and risk assessments. * Monitoring, assessing and implementing changes to risk assessments, behaviour support plans and support notes. * Taking responsibility for the smooth day to day running of the service. * Supporting the management team by carrying out tasks relating to the management and training of the team of Support Workers. * Acting as an ambassador for the Company, building effective working relationships with external and community organisations such as families, neighbours and relevant professional bodies. What we need from you: * A caring, kind and empathetic approach. * Enthusiasm, commitment and regards to everyone as equal. * To be passionate about making a difference. * Good communication skills. * To work flexibly on set shifts including weekends. * (Ideally) Previous attainment of a level 2 NVQ or equivalent Health and Social Care qualification and willingness to work towards level 3 with our support. * Experience of working in a physically demanding role, or experience working with behaviours which can challenge, both physically and verbally.
