Job Description

Purpose of the job The Quality Engineer is responsible for assisting with the establishment and maintenance of the BSCU Quality Management System, as well as assisting with the planning, coordination and control of the quality of the works. Accountabilities / Key responsibilities * Liaise with Project functional managers to establish and monitor the schedule of development of the BSCU Project Management System, as well as facilitate its documentation; * Assist in the review and acceptance of potential suppliers' capability to meet quality requirements; * Review Inspection and Test Plans; * Liaise with construction teams to ensure they have requisite documents developed, approved and distributed prior to works commencement; * Liaise with construction teams to ensure they comply with ITPs and works processes and procedures, and promote self-certification principles within construction teams; * Ensure the issue of NCRs by construction teams, as necessary; * Investigate on quality issues on behalf of the Senior Management Team, as required; * Undertake internal and supply chain audits in line with the BSCU Project Audit Schedule, as well as surveillance of quality activities (internal or supply chain); * Monitor progress of external, internal and supply chain audit findings to closure; * Maintain Management Systems registers (i.e. CARs and Observations, NCRs, DOWLs) in liaison with the Information Management team, and report progress on a regular basis; * Collate, analyse and report on Quality KPIs; * Assist in the preparation of Quality Management Reviews; * Provide training or advise as deemed necessary to facilitate the above; * Provide support to the Quality team, as necessary. Experience, knowledge, qualifications & training * Good working knowledge of English, both written and verbal, and be able to report at management level. * Educated to HND or HNC level or equivalent in an engineering, construction or related discipline. * Previous experience in a similar quality assurance-related role in the rail, construction or engineering industry. * Previous experience of compliance and assurance processes. * CQI Practitioner or above, or be able to demonstrate the ability to become a member of the Chartered Quality Institute. * IT literate, especially with Microsoft Excel, Word and Visio. * Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage own time.
