North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare NHS Trust ,
Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire

Overview

Job Description

The Assessment and Treatment Unit, based at the Harplands Hospital, provides health-focused, inpatient care for adults with a learning disability in Staffordshire. The service has a passionate and responsive multi-disciplinary team that promote a compassionate, person-centred and evidence-based approach to care and support. The service provides time-limited, specialised support, assessment and intervention for individuals who are experiencing a significant decline in their quality of life, as a result of complex mental health needs or distressed behaviours that cannot be safely managed within a community setting. The service works closely with community-based learning disability teams to maintain individuals in their own communities, and where an inpatient admission is necessary, ensure that the focus, from the beginning, is on safe and effective discharge. The Assessment and Treatment Unit provides highly specialised assessment, formulation and intervention to meet individual needs. The service works within positive behavioural support frameworks, and provides trauma-informed care. We are seeking to recruit a motivated Senior Staff Nurse to join our warm and welcoming team, and to provide practice leadership within the team. You will contribute to the development of multi-disciplinary working within the team, demonstrating a high standard of nursing practice and decision-making. You will act as a leader in providing high-quality, person-centred care and support, based upon holistic and evidence-based assessment, role-modelling the Trust Values and supporting the day-to-day running of the service. We welcome applications from nurses who have experience of supporting people with a learning disability with complex mental health needs, or who may be described as having behaviours that challenge others. We are seeking positive and motivated individuals who seek to improve the quality of life for those in their care, and who can apply PBS and trauma-informed approaches.
