With many commercial sectors, both in the UK and internationally, suffering varying degrees of distress, a number of our business units have a growing requirement for extensive tax support (including debtor and creditor advisory, restructuring and formal insolvency). A strong restructuring tax team with the right expertise is critical to the successful execution of such corporate transactions. Our extensive hands-on domestic and cross-border transaction experience in these areas helps resolve critical tax considerations in an efficient and practical manner. Our focus on balancing various stakeholders' concerns and the key commercial drivers, means that we can meet issues head-on and achieve results. Our tax-focused restructuring professionals serve as dedicated resource to our colleagues advising stressed and distressed businesses and their lenders, dealing with the many and varied tax consequences in such situations. As a result of A&M's growth, we are expanding the tax team rapidly at all levels and looking to recruit a restructuring tax Manager or Assistant Director into the team. The ideal candidate will be bright, pragmatic, action focused and hands-on in getting to the solution. The individual does not necessarily need to have specific restructuring or insolvency experience, although it would be an advantage. However, they need to have transaction tax experience and a good understanding of the tax implications of financing and refinancing, as well as possessing a genuine interest in this type of work and a desire to progress. The primary responsibilities would be restructuring and insolvency related work, although we also provide general tax services to corporate clients. Primary responsibilities: Performing tax due diligence for both contingency planning situations and transactions within insolvency for businesses located in the UK and globally: * Gathering and rapidly assimilating detailed information * Being alive to the tax implications beyond corporation tax and liaising accordingly with tax specialists in other areas * Co-ordinating global Taxand teams where necessary Providing advice in relation to the structuring of transactions: * Drafting detailed transaction steps plans * Reacting to fast moving and often changing situations * Incorporating tax structuring tax advice from other jurisdictions * Inputting to the tax sections of transaction documentation Providing restructuring colleagues and other stakeholders (including lenders and other advisers) with ad-hoc advice on company reorganisations and restructuring activities Overseeing the compliance process for UK companies in formal insolvencies Other responsibilities: * Providing advice regarding tax technical issues in the UK and globally * Undertaking technical research projects * Involved in business development and marketing initiatives Qualifications: * ACA or CTA qualified with several years corporate tax advisory experience, involving transactions and financing * Relevant/appropriate tax experience - we can only consider candidates with UK Tax experience for this role Personal qualities: * A self-assured and strong communicator * Flexibility in approach to clients/stakeholders and the form and nature of advice * A pragmatic approach to fast changing transaction environments * Enjoy working in a close and dynamic team * Energetic with the ability to grow What can we offer you? * Leadership: Growing leadership team and high-quality colleagues to work with in a fun and collegiate environment. * Career development: A&M is rapidly expanding.
