Tax Manager, US International Tax Advisory, Financial Services Asset Management Tax Requisition # LON00H6U Post Date 2 days ago EY's Financial Services (FS) Tax practice provides tax advisory, transactions and compliance services to a variety of clients in the Financial Services market ranging from some of the world's largest multinational institutions, corporations and funds. The US tax team, which sits within the EMEIA Wealth & Asset Management practice, continues to experience growth due to strong client demand from European clients with US investors and/or US activity. The opportunity Our London based team of US-tax qualified professionals is a growing practice of 50+ individuals focused on providing exceptional client service to the asset management industry including hedge funds, debt funds, private equity funds and real estate funds and their management companies. The team is highly dynamic and is looking for motivated, energetic and collaborative individuals to join the US team in London. The team is looking for managers to help grow the team this year. Your key responsibilities The role will involve managing US tax advisory projects for clients with appropriate consideration of risk, operational, and technical tax issues. You will work closely with senior team members on a wide variety of projects, research complex US tax issues, and help your clients understand the impact of US tax on their business. Working within a team, you will be expected to coach junior team members and share your knowledge and experience, both on the job and in internal technical trainings. You will be working in a dynamic environment and will be expected to juggle multiple projects and deadlines while managing key stakeholders, both internal and external. In addition to your specific client responsibilities, you will be a US tax technical resource that can support our US tax compliance teams as well as other teams within EY. The work will encompass a wide variety of advisory projects that will touch on US federal, state and local, and international tax issues. These projects may include: + Management company restructurings / US office set up + Review of treaty qualification / Limitation on Benefits (LOB) analysis + US trade or business / Permanent Establishment analysis + Fund / deal structuring + Advising on tax implications of potential trades + PFIC / CFC testing and analysis + Advising on withholding tax regulations (e.g., 305(c), 871(m)) + Accrual reviews for alternative funds (ASC 740 / FIN 48 reviews) + Leading market initiatives in respect of technical developments. Skills and attributes for success + Positive attitude and willingness to be a team player. + Excellent time and project management skills. + Strong verbal and written communication skills. + Ability to articulate complex tax matters to clients in a commercial manner. + Enthusiasm for coaching and developing team members. + Ability and willingness to quickly learn new concepts with minimal guidance. To qualify for the role, you must have + Current CPA, EA or law degree is required. + Bachelor's degree / Master's degree in accounting or taxation (or equivalent). + Strong inbound and outbound Subchapter K and Subchapter C international tax skills + Strong tax technical research and writing skills. Ideally, you'll also have + Experience managing teams of 2-6 people + Experience managing a portfolio of client engagements. + Background in financial services, ideally in asset management. + Background in US tax compliance and/or a non-US tax system is helpful, but not required.
