Job Description: Responsibilities: The Engagement Manager is responsible for managing engagements across all phases of the leadership search process. This role is responsible for establishing relationships and interacting with industry leaders, candidates and clients. Internally, the Engagement Manager is an acknowledged expert of the executive search process and is responsible for junior colleagues. Specific Responsibilities * Ensuring thorough understanding of requirements at the briefing stage by proactively raising relevant questions and collecting critical information. * Writing high quality company, position and person profiles and Key Factors for Success that may be sent directly to client with minimal consultant input. * Presenting research strategy to client with minimum consultant oversight. * Managing research phase autonomously by leveraging extensive personal candidate network, mastery of research tools and personal market expertise to get to the best candidates first, rather than taking an exhaustive approach. * Conducting candidate in-person interviews, effectively balancing assessment of qualifications and motivation with "selling" the search and the Firm. Writing high quality appraisals of candidate, providing insightful comments on qualifications and fit. * Presenting a sufficient number of qualified, well-briefed candidates while effectively managing clients and candidates. Demonstrating effective communication and counseling skills, relying on advice from consultants only when needed. * Executing package negotiations independently, reference checking and counseling of candidates and clients during the closing phase, taking council from consultants when needed. * Building a solid network of candidates, sources and "friends of the firm" through excellent search execution and client relationship management skills, such as ongoing communication and interaction. * Identifying "sell-on" opportunities with existing clients and candidates, spotting opportunities to match market needs with Firm capabilities and presenting opportunities to consultant. * Initiating and leading non-search projects/events and supporting the development of junior colleagues through coaching, mentoring and training activities. Qualifications: Qualifications & Experience * The successful candidate will have a minimum of six years of experience in executive search. * Undergraduate degree required. Relevant graduate degree or MBA preferred. * Experience identifying market trends and researching information effectively through various channels. * Highly developed conceptual skills, able to synthesize information quickly, understands various industries and functions, and able to present material in an organized and clear manner. * The ability to work with a number of constituencies on simultaneous projects. * Understanding and knowledge of organizational structures. * Strong desktop research skills and basic business knowledge. * Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint and high level of comfort with utilizing databases and online information resources. * Demonstrable initiative and resourcefulness. * Ability to develop well-planned strategies and achieve goals within tight timelines.
