Role Overview We have an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about Data Architecture to support the Data Enablement (DE) Function. An Enterprise wide team DE sits in IT and is accountable for the AstraZeneca data strategy and the implementation of horizontal services to support data across the business. Within DE is the Data Architecture (DA)Team accountable for the development, alignment and support of the company Data needs, through the Reference Data Architecture and Solution Architecture support. The team collaborates closely with functional and solution architects and other EA domain groups to help align to standard methodology and reference architectures, while dealing with exceptions and helping enable new solutions and delivery of business solutions and capabilities. The will align multiple architectures and requirements across groups to create a consistent and managed information and data estate which increases the speed of delivery for data within AZ Key Accountabilities + You will support the delivery of Enterprise through the provision of integrated DA services and design capabilities, including: + Owning the design, alignment, development, implementation and maintenance of complex data systems and solutions + Contributing to the development of conceptual, logical and physical data models to support data analysis and business intelligence + Creating and maintaining current- and target-state data architectures. + Defining and managing standards, guidelines and processes to ensure DA quality and develop best practice and standards re tooling, methods, standards, skills, documentation and training + You will ensure technology solutions are in alignment with data architecture principles and target and support end-to-end data life cycle management activities + Collaborating with IT teams, business analysts and data analytics teams to understand data consumers' needs and support developing solutions + Defining the architecture strategy, relevant for the Architecture Segment + You will analyse business priorities & strategies and translate these into architecture requirements for the enterprise and act as an authority to the architecture community and the business regarding strategic architecture decisions for the relevant architecture segment + You will lead the development of Architecture Roadmaps and Blueprints (1-5 Year horizon) + Engaging and building your network with external architecture domain experts to remain up to date with latest trends and technologies and identify potential impact of market trends on the business + You will act as strategic architectural advisor for senior management and provide thought leadership and technical expertise across IT Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience + BSc / MSc in Computer Science + Demonstrable experience in data architecture or related discipline (solution architecture, data engineering). + Experience of delivering DA within IT projects delivered through Agile and Waterfall methodologies. + Ideally some domain knowledge (processes & data): Pharma, Science, Commercial and supporting functions Experience of working with: + BI & analytics architectures: traditional warehousing, Distributed computing (Hadoop), NoSQL, virtualization, data streaming etc. + Data scientists and their methods: understanding of how data needs to be prepared for use by data scientists.
