Job Description
BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION Responsible for design, specification and services related to piping systems and plant layout including piping material selection, piping material line classes, standard and specialty piping components, pressure, weight and thermal analysis of piping systems, vibration analysis and piping support systems. Under broad direction, supervises and leads a group of engineers and designers on a given project. Sets the technical standards and procedures for the project using a group of engineers and designers. Conducts various aspects of performance management such as performance appraisal or counseling of employees with behavior or technical performance problems and assists in the interviewing, hiring, and assignment of new personnel in the discipline. Works with remote offices to best utilize their skills and experience to gain the best performance on a project. Job role is responsible for a projects technical performance and assigned staff and budgets. Skills are typically acquired through an undergraduate degree in Engineering and relevant experience Administrative or supervisory responsibilities will include management and supervision for all engineers and designers on a given project. Candidates at this level will usually hold a certification as a Licensed/Chartered Professional Engineer. ESSENTIAL SKILLS Knowledge and proven experience in a lead engineer's role, ideally leading a major project with a tier 1 Owner operator such as Shell or BP. Background should show a progression in roles from within the piping group into a lead position. Projects are ideally within at least one of the following areas - onshore, offshore, LNG. Knowledge Plant Layout Knowledge of Piping Materials and Valves Knowledge of B31.3 Degree Qualified - ideally chartered engineer (HNC or similar will be considered) PREFERRED SKILLS Knowledge of experience in working in a multi office environment, in particular with Indian and far eastern offices.
