Assistant Financial Accounting Controller Colchester - UK Job Reference:CUX-FIN-05101 Location:Colchester - UK Closing Date:03/07/2019 Department:Finance Division:Global Support Key responsibilities The T&C Assistant Financial Accounting Controller is expected to assume some of the following key responsibilities plus any other reasonable duties as required: Statutory Accounts, Month end & Other + Prepare and review draft statutory accounts + Manage statutory accounts software package and provide training to the team as required + Oversee the tagging of Statutory accounts (EUSSC only) + Assist with corporate simplification process + Manage the Compliance queries inbox + Assist with preparing information for Group + Assist with relevant project work (eg. annual dividend project, acquisitions, disposals etc) + Completion of work associated with Head office companies (eg. month end, budget & forecasting, statutory accounts) + Reviewing of any work associated with dormant & non-trading entities + Assist with the provision of information for audit queries + Review of dormant and non-trader reconciliations + Assist and train T&C Accountants where required + Prepare and review assigned Balance sheet reconciliations Treasury + Assist with the preparation and review of treasury transactions, posting and month end schedules + Review of relevant bank reconciliations + Assist with daily and month treasury requests from Group Treasury + Assist and oversees relevant project work + Assist with month compliance related work, including account limits, passport scheme and loan facilities People Management Responsibilities + Team workload management + Motivate team to ensure performance metrics s are hit + Support communication structures across the team to ensure all key messages are communicated + Support Financial Accounting Controller / Treasury Accounting Controller to develop a plan for cross-training, working shadowing and rotation of responsibilities within team + Provides coaching on both soft and technical skills within the team + Participate in Recruitment & Selection processes + Act as a role model to others + Team admin duties such as absence management, holiday authorisations, timesheet approvals etc Skills & Abilities + Ability to oversee, motivate and manage people in a Tax & Compliance environment + Advanced skills in Excel, Word and Outlook are essential + Good communication skills at all levels including a wide range of stakeholders within the business + Knowledge and ability to use relevant internal systems + Act with integrity, tact and diplomacy + Improves processes & systems + Problem solves within tight deadlines + Be pro-active and take initiative + Good influencing skills + Highly organised, diligent with attention to detail + Demonstrable success in improving Tax & Compliance service levels Knowledge & Qualifications + Strong knowledge and understanding of all Tax & Compliance/Financial Accounting processes including best practice in Tax & Compliance/Financial Accounting, people, processes and technology + Significant knowledge of SAP system + Good knowledge of leadership, coaching and people development + Recognised qualification/Accounting degree preferable (SSC Specific) + A track record of continuous professional and management development + Knowledge of dealing with acquisitions and disposals + 4 years relevant Tax & compliance/accounting experience + Knowledge of lean, Six Sigma or other continuous improvement methodologies preferred
