About Fastmarkets Fastmarkets is Euromoney's commodities price reporting, information and events business. It is growing rapidly. Its business serves the global metals, minerals and forest-products markets. The business also runs events for the agriculture markets (Global Grain). Historically a news-led subscription business, the strategy is to evolve the operation into a pricing-led data business. We launched Fastmarkets as the business's master brand internally in the summer of 2018 and externally in October. Fastmarkets encompasses the historic brands of Metal Bulletin, American Metal Market, RISI, FOEX and Random Lengths. These storied brands, the oldest dating back to 1874, are leading names in commodity pricing in the global metals, mining, and forest product markets. This is a key hire for Fastmarkets and perceived as a catalyst to drive additional top and bottom line growth in the business. The business is headquartered in London, UK. This individual will have accountability of a business that currently has revenues of circa 30m, with operations in the Americas, Europe, and Asia. Fastmarkets Metals has circa 200 FTEs spread across the globe (mainly London, but also with small teams in Chicago, Pittsburgh and New York), Singapore, China (Shanghai & Beijing), Ukraine and Brazil (Sao Paolo). Growth is expected to come predominately organically through price reporting and benchmarking services and the development of product sets for new client groups (including financials and buyer segments). The competitive position of the analytics business is expected to be improved by the application of artificial intelligence and data-driven algorithms to our forecasting models. JOB PURPOSE The MD for Fastmarkets Metals will have ultimate responsibility for the P managing the team within a matrix structure and driving key commercial, strategic and operational initiatives. The MD will be a member of the senior leadership team for Fastmarkets (which comprises the CEO, CFO, CTO, the Global Head of HR, the MDs of Fastmarkets Forest Products and Fastmarkets Events sectors). PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES The MD will be responsible for the overall P&L of the metals business with a significant and broad remit encompassing: + Working closely with the CEO of Fastmarkets to identify and implement a clear strategy for the business with a focus on driving organic and inorganic growth. + Direct responsibility for driving both the top-line growth and improved bottom line profitability. + Assess and restructure the team within a evolving matrix structure. + Create a strong leadership team with an overtly commercial culture whilst also driving key behaviours. + Strong leader commanding respect and collaboration across the management team + Stong track record on devlivery in terms of projects, product and strategy + Develop clear strategies and accountabilities for the organization aligned with the overall objectives agreed with the board, and to drive execution of these plans. Specific accountabilities will include: + Work closely with the CEO and Executive Team of Fastmarkets to devise the metals business strategy + Responsible for refining and executing a profitable growth strategy worldwide with clear goals set for the next 3-5years. + Have responsibility for the metals P&L and for demonstrating accelerated growth from the top and bottom line perspective. + Have strong commodities experience with extensive client facing relationship skills + Drive growth and expansion in Asia and China through he development and execution of a strategy for these markets. + Build a commercially-focused business culture that is client centric and growth oriented. Additionally implement an execution culture setting clear expectations, targets and KPI's across the business to ensure continuous improvement. + Build a high-performing, well-motivated team including the attraction, development and management of talent. + Lead by example play an active role in originating and developing new clients and expanding business in existing clients. + Review current internal infrastructure to ensure the business is well positioned for growth, has strong financial controls and relevant information systems to support business activities. + Develop the business case for bolt-on acquisitions, research and suggest opportunities, support acquisition negotiations and lead any subsequent integration. Candidate Experience: + Significant proven experience with a successful track record as a General Manager or CEO with a full P&L responsibility, ideally with international experience. + Proven ability to position a division or company for growth through M&A + Demonstrable track record of managing growth and margin improvement. + Proven track record in successfully managing a broad set of business functions through an organisational matrix including geographically dispersed teams in Sales, Product Management, Operations, Marketing, and Technology. + Good understanding of sub
