Join us as a Head of Medical Affairs in our UK office, initially dual site located between Wooburn Green, Bucks and Paddington, moving permanently to London Paddington in January 2020. The successful applicant for this role will take overall responsibility for the Gastrointestinal Medical Affairs team within Takeda UK, comprising 11 individuals. This is a critically important area for Takeda, who have identified gastroenterology as a one of 3 therapeutic areas of commercial focus for the company within Europe, the others being oncology and rare diseases Takeda currently market (i) Vedolizumab, an anti-integrin monoclonal antibody licensed for the treatment of Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis; (ii) Darvadstrocel, a stem cell treatment for the management of complex perianal fistulae in patients with Crohn's Disease and (iii) Teduglutide, a treatment for short bowel syndrome. This is an important leadership role within the business. The holder of this role is responsible for leading and developing a team comprising office-based Medical Managers and an MSL team leader who in turn leads both MSL and Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) teams. Other responsibilities include leading the development and delivery of the gastroenterology medical affairs plan, which is underpinned by a substantial budget that must be managed appropriately. The medical affairs plan would include substantial projects in the areas of evidence generation, insight gathering, medical communications and education as well as co-created projects delivered in collaboration with functions such as marketing or market access. The holder of this role will also be expected to be an active member of the Medical Leadership Team. In this capacity they will take responsibility for providing leadership and overseeing projects across the entire medical function.
