AstraZeneca's Global Engineering and Real Estate (GERE) team has its main hubs in the U.K., U.S. and Sweden, they also have a presence in Asia Pacific and France. By putting next generation assets on the ground, the team is playing a fundamental role in supporting AstraZeneca's strong pipeline. Combining use of new technologies, skilled project and programme management and a broad range of engineering and construction expertise, the team establishes positive relationships with end customers to build facilities which meet business needs and sustainability requirements. Main Duties and Responsibilities: Our Head of Engineering Technical Services (ETS) is accountable for delivering future-facing and sustainable technology solutions on time and budget into capital projects in the process equipment, built environment and automation areas. For new GXP assets, you are also accountable for developing and delivering lean commissioning and qualification strategies. You will also ensure that ETS provide high quality technical consulting to Operations sites and other AZ functions, e.g. GES and PT&D, and deploy equipment and automation standards into capital projects to drive consistency, efficiency and agility. This requires an effective network across the relevant areas of AZ, a good understanding of corporate business goals and the ability to convert them into technical solutions. As the head of the ETS Leadership Team and a member of the GERE Leadership Team, you will also develop and deliver the ETS and GERE strategies to ensure we are successful in meeting business needs now and in the future. Number of direct reports: 5 - 8 Essential Requirements + Validated strategic thinker + Demonstrated leadership of medium-sized organisation + Experience of leading technical teams + Ability to interact with and influence a wide range of internal business partners and leaders + Experience in pharma manufacturing technologies + Experience with capital project delivery from business case development through project execution and current GMP regulations + Experience in technology procurement and supplier relationship management + Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Engineering with 10 or more years' experience in the Pharma industry + Desirable Requirements + Strong network across the relevant AstraZeneca functions (e.g. PT&D, R&D, GES, GSC&S, Operations sites) + Experience in specific disciplines e.g. automation, sustainability, C&Q + Collaboration is a way of life for us.
