Job Overview and Responsibilities Solvay is actively recruiting for a Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Supervisor / Officer who will ensure site compliance with Solvay's HSE policy / procedures and UK legislation, manage the deployment of HSE awareness and education, in addition to driving continuous improvement to the site safety culture by effective engagement with the workforce. The role requires an individual with excellent communication skills along with a methodical approach to hazard and risk management. A knowledge of safety and environmental issues relating to a manufacturing environment is essential. This role will report to the Senior HSE Manager for the site. Key responsibilities of the role include: + Deployment of group HSE policies, objectives, programs and tools, including ensuring adherence to the HSE handbook. + Ensure continuous improvement of Site HSE performance and safety culture. + Keep updated about planned developments (new or changed products or installations) within the site and address the measures to be taken from an HSE point of view. + Keep updated about new developments within the HSE domain, and evaluate their potential impact for the site. Communicate best practices or lessons learned from other sites. + Oversee and ensure satisfactory investigations are undertaken in to all accidents, oversee the management of actions responding to 'near miss' reporting and environmental incidents/non-conformities; analyse causes and recommend corrective actions to Site management. + Provide HSE reporting to the Site and Global Business Unit (GBU) management. + Provide HSE expertise, information, advice and support to the Site organization. + Provide support to the Senior Safety Manager for ISO1400 and ISO 45001 implementation and management. + Review, and update where necessary, site risk assessments and process work instructions. + Ensure that all necessary checks relating to safety and the environment are being completed and documented as required. Education and Experience + NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health. + At least 3+ years experience working in a HSE role within a manufacturing environment. + Thorough understanding of UK HSE legislation. + Strong influencing, communication and presentation skills at all levels. Skills Desirable skills: + Extensive experience in conducting Risk Assessments on Machinery, with experience of Chemical safety and Process risk assessments. + Chemical knowledge (resins and resin systems) + Track-record of working collaboratively across functions in a matrix environment + Use of Google Docs and other software to produce reports, graphs and presentations as required + Root cause analysis incorporation various problem solving methodology.
