The Arcadis Geotechnical team are involved in some of the UK's most high profile, complex and stimulating projects. We have an enviable reputation in the delivery of some of the UK's and indeed the world's most prestigious and challenging projects. Our current client portfolio includes the Highways Agency, Transport for London, Local Authorities, the Environment Agency, Canal & Rivers Trust, Water Companies, Network Rail and selected Civil Engineering Contractors for whom we undertake the planning, design and supervision of geotechnical engineering solutions for an a raft of schemes including, high speed rail, managed motorways, harbours, ports, water treatment plants, reservoirs, rail electrification, station upgrades and structures across a wide range of geological conditions. Key Responsibilities/ Duties: * As a well-rounded Geotechnical Engineer, you will be accountable for managing components of projects in collaboration with other design disciplines to deliver technical reports and calculations. * The role will involve building relationships with clients on projects, gaining experience in commercial aspects of projects together with developing your own skills, and those of the team, to ensure you all reach your full potential. * Reporting to the team leader, the responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to: * Preparing geotechnical calculations, drawings, specifications, reports and other project documentation as required in line with company and client requirements as well as national standards and codes of practice. * Managing selected small projects or components of projects, taking responsibility and resource allocation for own area and ensuring effective communication of any changes/modifications. * Participation in the resolution of technical issues. * Becoming familiar with, and compliant with, relevant H&S regulations. * Building relationships with clients on projects. * Leading their own technical and professional development, supported by the team's more experienced members. * Performing other duties and responsibilities as required from time to time by your line manager. Requirements Knowledge and Experience: * Enthusiastic and supportive team member. * Developed technical submissions including geotechnical desk studies, ground investigation and earthworks specifications, preferably with some site supervision experience. * Well-rounded understanding of geotechnical design including foundations (shallow and piled), retaining walls and slope stability. Preferable experience with geotechnical software packages such as PDisp, Wallap, Repute and SlopeW. * Capable of efficiently undertaking geotechnical tasks, managing their own delivery with minor supervision. * Growing experience of leading projects, including planning, supervising and designing elements of a project, together with examples of applying standards and technical knowledge in projects. * Developed technical deliverables with an awareness of health and safety, commercial and contractual risks. * Strong technical report writing with clear verbal communication skills. Capable of presenting ideas and working collaboratively within the team and with multi-disciplinary clients. * Proficient user of MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, etc. Minimum Academic Qualifications: * MEng in Civil Engineering with a geotechnical bias, * MSc/MEng Geotechnical Engineering, or * MSc in Engineering Geology. * Progressing towards becoming a Chartered Engineer or Geologist. * Full UK driving Licence Why Arcadis?
