As Head of Data Science for Oakam your mission will be to lead this organisation and define the direction, structure, processes and standards for Data Science across the company, so that every department that relies on data science so you're a central, crucial part of the business. You will report to our CRO and become the central point of leadership for this rapidly growing team. What will your workday look like? You will be based at our Moray House office on Great Titchfield Street (GTS), just around the corner from lively Oxford Street. Moray House is home to our Finance, Marketing, Engineering, Risk, Data, Talent, and Compliance teams, so there is always a lot going on! It's a busy and diverse environment where everyone rolls up their sleeves and gets stuck in. You may, from time to time, be required to work at our Sunley House office in Croydon, where our Operations, HR, and Customer Services teams are based. 5 minutes from Croydon train station, Sunley is a vibrant space which has recently received a much-deserved make-over (including the installation of a games room!). Whilst the ins-and-outs of every day will vary, you can expect to: * Ensure the extraction of actionable insights at all levels: from design engineers to our executives going beyond conventional reporting capabilities. * Take the business on a journey by identifying opportunities and squeezing value from a wealth of data sources ranging from classic enterprise line of business data to bespoke product engineering and design data. * Support the ongoing development of a data and technology strategy or target operating model for data & analytics * Research & develop effective models & products to deliver valuable insights * Lead a data science team and expand these capabilities by partnering with other groups at Oakam * Partner with other data leaders to drive coordinated efforts to educate, develop and empower those who work in analytics roles * Demonstrate thought leadership in data analytics area. Stay at the forefront of industry best practice and drive innovation across Oakam * Managing key stakeholder relationships, such as with data science, data engineering, product, and functions etc. What will you bring to the role? * Experience building and leading a significant data science team within a scaling organisation * Bachelor's/Master's/PhD in STEM (Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering) * Excellent knowledge of data science tools, including, python coding, SQL and production tools. * Deep understanding of fundamentals of probability and statistics. * Excellent communication and collaboration skills to partner with Product Owners and business heads What you'll get in return * a competitive salary * flexible work arrangements * private health care * enrollment in our pension scheme * a fantastic office in the centre of London * free tea, coffee and snacks * regular team lunches * the chance to help shape the company as we continue to grow and expand Who is Oakam?
