Principal Consultant - Ecotoxicology & Risk Assessment ERM is seeking an experienced Ecotoxicology & Risk Assessment expert to join us as a Principal Consultant in our product stewardship team in the UK, Germany, France, Belgium, Italy or Spain. This is a great opportunity to join a consultancy with strong track records of advising clients in the chemical sector, with a focus on agrochemicals, biocides and REACH, to help them to navigate the complexities of the EU regulatory environment. ERM is growing and expanding our product stewardship service offerings for our clients, providing clients with higher tier technical support, in addition to dossier related activities such as data gap analysis, study monitoring, preparation and submission of dossiers and post submission support. The Principal Consultant will provide technical leadership and manage the delivery of higher tier complex modelling work to help clients solve technical challenges they face. This person will work with clients across agrochemical, general chemical and biocides sectors as well as colleagues who are specialist in a variety of scientific topic areas. Role responsibilities Provide a high quality consultancy service in ecotoxicology and ecological risk assessment to clients and to other JSC staff to meet regulatory and business needs. * Leading a team of experienced ecotoxicologists * Understand clients' desired outcomes and work collaboratively to ensure deliverables meet quality standards * Work closely with clients, represent JSC in client meetings and respond to specific questions on ecotoxicology * Contribute to the commercial growth of the business through actively participating in the wider business development activities such as client visits, conferences, and expert groups relevant to expert area, as appropriate * Undertake evaluation and summarisation of ecotoxicology data, ecological risk assessments and ecotoxicology study monitoring as required * Define actions and identify and utilize resources to achieve project tasks or objectives; ensure that projects are delivered on time and to budget and that goals are aligned to desired project results * Work closely with Project Managers and other members of the team to ensure Client and regulatory deadlines are met * Work closely with other JSC environmental fate and ecotoxicology experts to maintain awareness of projects and general issues * Ensure awareness of the latest developments in all areas of ecotoxicology and ecological risk assessment * Develop expertise in biocides and REACH and other areas according to the requirements of the business * Assist in the personal development of other members of the JSC team, as appropriate * Undertake other scientific and administrative tasks on occasion, where this benefits the business as a whole Skill & experience requirement: * Educated to degree level within Biology, Ecotoxicology or other related disciplines * Strong knowledge of EU data requirements for ecotoxicology studies * Demonstrated ability to design and conduct ecotoxicology studies and environmental risk assessment * Experienced in the preparation and support of dossiers * Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative environment and across discipline * Experienced in project management * Strong commitment to delivering high quality work that exceeds clients' expectations * Strong commitment to safety, including following established Health and Safety protocols * Excellent communicator (written/verbal) with the ability to listen, organise and prioritise * Excellent inter-personal skill with the ability to lead project team and passion to help others develop
