Job Description

Lead Technical Architect, Ruby on rails, 12 months, London. Digital Skills are delighted to be working with a large government department, who require a Lead Technical Architect to provide technical leadership to product teams across an established and growing service line. You will provide technology strategy and guidance to agile product teams, ensuring architecture and development are conducted in line with government standards. Responsibilities: You will engage as part of a wider team, supporting and guiding the development the service line, collaborating closely with the service owner and their team. You will set good practices for software development and delivery, engage with 3rd parties on integrations and other matters, prepare services to go through a service standard assessment while directing growth of a development community. You will engage in wider organisation architecture and security governance transformation in line with digital delivery, help with the operational and support model for services, and review and input on resourcing requirements. Essential experience: * Leading technical teams and delivering user-focused services in a large organisation. * Software development and application architecture using open source technologies. * A demonstrable history using Ruby on Rails. * Scaling online services. * An awareness of emerging security issues. * Experienced in agile environments, continual delivery techniques and DevOps cultures. * Influence senior management &communicate with both technical and non-technical. * Experienced working to the government department standard. * Produce strategy for technology that meets user and business needs. * Cloud technology experience, infrastructure-as-code, enterprise integration tools and extract, transformation and load (ETL) tools. * A history of designing and implementing secure systems. * Able to travel to client locations and activities on occasion.
