Engineering Lead (Software)

Our systems We build and maintain our website using a number of technologies, namely: Python, Django Framework, MySQL, Ubuntu (Linux). What you'll do - Work with members of the Senior Management and Development teams to manage, track and control issues ensuring timely delivery - Work with management to ensure the correct scope and direction of each project - Work with the Product team to prioritise Development/Product work - Drive Development coordination and execution towards the delivery of new project features and improvements - Identify and report on department resource requirements - Evangelise department practices and processes - Actively identify areas for improvement impacting the Software Developer Life Cycle - Actively identify areas for improvement impacting the Project Management Life Cycle - Facilitate meetings/workshops as needed for your projects - Reduce surprises during execution - Support Product Leads as required to accomplish current initiatives - Encourage and facilitate the documentation of technical solutions - Stay current in new IT technologies - Promote a culture of high performance, transparency, ownership and learning What you'll need - Strong understanding of source control (git) - Experience in OOP Python development - Experience with Django Framework - Experience using Javascript, JQuery and AJAX - Knowledge of HTML & CSS - Full understanding of web standards and code optimisation - Experience working with API models (REST) Who you are - You are from a technical background and have been part of the SDLC - You are experienced with working in development teams - You are able to understand technical topics and emerging technologies - You have experience with Agile methodology, SDLC and PMLC - You are highly organised and can stay on top of many projects happening concurrently - You have great verbal and written communication - You have a deep understanding of communication, group dynamics and project management - You are not afraid to raise issues and remove impediments - You are able to communicate technical solutions clearly to a non-technical audience - You lead by example and will save technical face for the team If this sounds like the role for you, click APPLY today.
