**For Current Kite Pharma Employees and Contractors:** Please log onto your Internal Career Site at to apply for this job **Job Description** The ACE ( Australia Canada and Europe ) Head of External Scientific Collaboration will have overall responsibility for regionally developing and executing the strategies and tactics for external scientific collaborations with key institutions and collaborative groups in the region ACE. The incumbent will develop strategic relationships and partnerships with Academia in pursuit of Kite's research, development and medical affairs goals. This role will report to the Executive Director , Oncology and Cell Therapy, Head of ACE Medical Affairs and will be a member of the ACE medical affairs leadership team. **Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):** Develops and leads Strategy for External Scientific collaborations in ACE region. Works closely with the cross-functional Cell Therapy Team in Stockley Park , the ACE Country Medical Leads, and with Global Head of External Scientific Collaboration in Santa Monica, CA. The matrix team is comprised of research, translational medicine and clinical development who will be responsible for the execution of company's external research collaborations. Develops and maintains relationships with investigators at key academic institutions to ensure optimal collaboration between clinicians/scientists and the investigator. Closely collaborates with individual product development teams and other company scientist to define product specific strategy for external collaborations Coordinates scientific exchange with collaborators and ensure action items are followed through with the team, responsible for tracking and managing budget and execution of external scientific and relevant clinical collaborations Participates in designing and evaluating clinical studies and scientific publications. Experience in working in a clinical and interdisciplinary environment and ability to take initiative and to lead projects . Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Desire to learn, ask questions and be resourceful to identify innovative applications, develop own, creative solutions to complex problems . Display a high level of critical thinking Develops and maintains positive professional relationships with thought-leaders based on mutual respect and reciprocal scientific information exchange related to medical therapies. This includes obtaining feedback from the independent community of relevant healthcare professionals in hematological malignancies and solid tumors. Provides timely coaching and constructive feedback within this matrix organization for Medical Affairs and to other key functional stakeholders. **Qualifications & Experience:** Solid clinical development experience in hematology/oncology therapeutic areas Existing global contacts with hematology institutions and/or hospitals Extensive Medical Affairs experience. Experience in interacting with Oncology collaborative groups Previous pharmaceutical industry experience is highly preferable however if coming from academia they must have experience with Oncology collaborative groups/ collaborative clinical trials. One or more of the following advanced degrees in life sciences: MD, PharmD, or PhD; Strategic thinking skills with demonstrated ability to successfully lead the ideation, development of a plan and move to action; Demonstrated success managing teams (directly or indirectly) across global matrix organizations A willingness and ability to work hands-on and with a sense of urgency, in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment Solid working knowledge of regulatory and compliance environment Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively present to and engage with a wide range of audiences Computer proficiency in all common IT work tools Ability to travel frequently (+/- 30%) **Competencies:** **_Results orientation._** The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
