Assistant Civil Engineer, Wastewater Infrastructure Design Assistant Civil Engineer, Wastewater Infrastructure Design . Sweco are recruiting to reinforce and expand the infrastructure design team in Bristol. We are the principal wastewater design office for Sweco in the south of England and Wales. Our work is for a range of clients and is primarily design for adoption to water company standards. You will be an assistant engineer in a team which covers a wide range of clients and capabilities. Our work encompasses most aspects of stormwater, wastewater and clean water infrastructure. We provide flood prevention designs on combined and stormwater systems for water companies and design new systems for developments both for developers and water company requisitions. Flood Risk Assessments, environmental and planning considerations and SUDS design are included in most of these projects. We also carry out maintenance and safety driven projects such as refurbishment and new designs for pumping stations and other M&E installations such as mechanical screens. This is a full service from option identification through hydraulic modelling to detailed design, construction support and commissioning. About You You will be working towards membership at the appropriate level of a relevant professional institution, having appropriate academic qualification and/or demonstrable experience. At assistant engineer level, you will work on water design projects making use of support and advice from the team. You will keep managers informed of your work and share your experience with the team. You will have the drive and determination to ensure you meet all agreed targets for budget, programme, quality, safety and performance. Working as part of a small team within the Water and Asset Management business unit and reporting to the Infrastructure Team Leader, delivering flood relief and new development design primarily for wastewater schemes. We are currently looking for talented and motivated Assistant Engineers to join our team. In this role you'll be: * Assisting with designs to current water company and regulatory standards * Learning from other team members. * Providing regular feedback of progress to the team leader to assist in the management of delivery and ensure that project delivery meets the client's objectives and requirements * Ensuring that tasks are carried out and completed in accordance with the agreed scope of works, timescales and budgets. * Consulting with stakeholders * Liaising with team members, clients and other disciplines to work together to deliver projects. To be successful in this role, you will need to possess or be ready to learn about: * Awareness of current Water Company, EA and NRW design standards and requirements * Awareness of site investigation * Appreciation of environmental impacts of construction and how to reduce them * Awareness of InfoWorks and Microdrainage * Awareness of the mechanical and electrical elements of hydraulic design projects * Ability to work with professionals from all disciplines to optimise and develop bespoke, 'value for money' and innovative designs. * Readiness to liaise with clients and consultees * Understanding of the contractors needs for information * Construction site methods and procedures * Design for safe construction and operation * Appreciating of health and safety legislation, particularly regarding confined spaces Professional Membership and Qualifications: * Working towards Membership of ICE or CIWEM.
