Job Description

Lead Superintendent Sonographer, Band 8a Due to upcoming retirement, the Imaging Department is looking for a forward thinking and enthusiastic sonographer who is keen to play a part in leading a team and have the drive and ambition to shape the way we deliver our services. The successful candidate will effectively manage the Ultrasound departments, ensuring smooth service provision while effectively managing and deploying staff in their specific area. They will need to coordinate all ultrasound procedures on both inpatients and outpatients, working closely with the wider imaging team, consultants and clerical team. They will be responsible for the appraisal and monitoring of performance of ultrasound staff members, as well as contributing to their professional development. In addition, there will be a significant clinical element to the role which will include ultrasound scanning and teaching. The post-holder will be expected to produce high quality images to assist in diagnosis and treatment. They will fulfil the requirements of their role within the Imaging team. The responsibilities will include training and supervision of more junior staff and students. They will be regarded as a key member of the Imaging team. .
